This is so clever I can’t stand it. This transforming space base by builder chris office reminds me of the old Mattel and Micro Machines play sets. It starts as a pretty cool looking suit case, which is pretty ship-like already, with a classic space logo and plenty of greebs. But then you open it up and unveil a whole little space station world, complete with ships and vehicles, a landing pad, what looks like soil processing and even a bar! I could see a whole line based on this concept, with a different case for each theme, like a treasure chest for pirates, a trunk for adventurers and a crate for city.
Marty McFly and Doc Brown have a new trick up their sleeves. The next time Biff gives them any crap they won't have to run away or divert him into some manure, they can simply transform and take him on mech style thanks to builder alanyuppie. So does this thing run on regular unleaded gasoline or what?
So you look at the first picture and you think "cool, a dump truck". It reminds me of my big Tonka when I was a kid, and seems like it would be right at home with other LEGO City sets. Then you get to the second picture and get your mind blown, this baby transforms! Builder Cpt. Brick not only nailed the City look, he nailed the Transformers look. As awesome as it is though, I think my favorite thing about these shots is the minifigs casually enjoying coffee in the shadow of the robot.
I've always sorta preferred the mentality of Macross (or Robotech as it was better known in the US) over Transformers. Rather than disguising themselves it was simply a matter of practicality. It's easier to get where you're going if you can fly fast, and easier to fight if you're a robot, so why not combine them? This version by nobu_tary nails the look perfectly, and transforms as well, awesome.
I really like the chibi proportions of this latest Gundam mech by Moko. It reminds me of a small child in a very elaborate costume, the sort of costume a truly dedicated nerd dad would come up with. And as if the squat stature of this guy wasn't cool enough, it also transforms! Check out Moko's website (in Japanese) for more pics and details.
Like being a Lamborghini isn't cool enough, this guy can also turn into a robot?!? Yes, I'm a kid of the 80's so the Countach is pretty much the coolest car ever. I should also be into Transformers too, but they came along just moments too late for me (but I got to enjoy GiJOE in his proper dimensions, 12"). This Sideswipe by MortalSwordsman can transform without removing pieces, which in itself is an accomplishment, but to also make it this accurate and awesome? Total win.
