Rinse and Repeat: Round 1 of Bio-Cup 2022

In our recent article about the various ways to build a roof, we showed that having a large amount of almost any part imaginable can be advantageous when it comes to building one (using everything from carrots to cones). Believe it or not, the same holds true when it comes to creating the organic curves commonly seen in creature and character building.

The theme for Round 1 of Bio-Cup 2022 was #KAIJUNE, and the entrants were tasked with building all sorts of gargantuan monsters. Just like how rampant cell division is the explanation for why many kaiju have grown to such enormous sizes (think Godzilla, King Kong, etc.), rampantly repeated part usage explains how many of these constraction creature builds grew to their own enormous sizes as well. There were plenty of examples of builders taking advantage of using repeated parts in this latest round. In most cases, the various parts were likely attached by sliding or clipping them onto varying lengths of flex tube. Below are some highlighted examples that caught our attention.

Ctenosaura - by Ron Folkers

ROBO SNAIL 2099 - by Inferno Mocs

Horror from the Depths - by jakes_brick_hoard

Arthropodal Annihilation - by VelociJACKtor

Motherbeast of Klaxxon 4 - by Sharreek mocs

Molethra - by Jayfa

Where The Skies End - by Dan V

Xamura, Star Guardian - by Cody Avery

Stygian Zinogre - by Matt Goldberg

Inkanyamba - by Brandon.Builds

Hungering Storm - by NateMakesMOCs

Mega Moth - by Eero Okkonen

It just goes to show you that when it comes to building MOCs of any type, you can achieve great results by “simply making the most of what you have” (…or perhaps that should read “simply using what parts you have the most of”…). We look forward to Round 2 of Bio-Cup 2022!
