A new month is upon us which means more competitive building! Are you ready? Here’s the latest bunch of LEGO contests and challenges from all around the AFOL community for January 2025 to help you find some inspiration and motivation to build! There’s nothing quite like a theme or a prompt to take you out of your comfort zone and give you something new to try. Besides, contests are the perfect place to interact with other contestants and judges and get to know your fellow builders. And if you’re like me, a deadline helps make sure you actually finish!
We’ve listed them in order of deadline so you can plan your building time to the best advantage. Make sure to check the LEGO activity calendar for local challenges and events near you. Here at BrickNerd, some of our fondest memories, greatest building achievements, coolest trophies, and best friendships came from LEGO contests, so we really hope you try some of these out. We look forward to seeing what you build!
Light your fires, and get that anvil ringing! The Iron Forge is back – do you have what it takes to challenge the Iron Builders?
You have until the 10th of January to create a MOC worthy of the Forge using the seed part. The seed part you must feature in your MOC is any of the mudguards that has only one wheel arch, in any color or color combination.
Deadline: First round ends January 10th
Prize: The chance to compete in the legendary Iron Builer challenge!

Do you have what it takes to be a Dragonslayer? Do you deserve a place at the round table with some of the best medieval builders out there? Join the Brickscalibur contest and indulge that hankering to build some epic castle MOCs! With six fabulous categories (and a prize for the best digital build too!) there’s more than enough building inspiration to get you going!
Deadline: January 15th
Prize: First and second places for each category, with the winners choice between a LEGO set and a custom-built prize, and a custom-built trophy (to be unveiled soon!) for the Dragon Slayer!

This only needs a handful of elements! Simply build something using a total of 25 LEGO elements!
Deadline: January 25th
Prize: Just the fun of building with LEGO!

Ready to reimagine a LEGO set? With three categories for different sized sets, you can dream as big or small as you like.
Deadline: January 27th
Prizes: Sets of your choice worth up to 180€ for the large category, 150€ medium category, and 110€ small category.

Time to show off your green thumb and do some (LEGO) planting, gardening, sowing or reaping!
Deadline: January 29th
Prizes: Just the fun of building with LEGO!

Kicking off each new year, Droneuary is straightforward and open-ended. Build drones. No meatbags allowed! Big, small, civilian, military, eldritch, you name it, all drones are welcome.
Deadline: January 31st
Prize: Just the fun of building LEGO drones!
Where to enter: LEGO SPACE! Discord Server or the Droneuary flickr group
Participate in Series 7 of the BrickLink Designer Program to have the chance to get your build produced and sold as a BrickLink exclusive set!
Deadline: Open for submissions from January 20th – January 31st
Prize: Have your build turned into a BrickLink Designer set!
Where to enter: BrickLink
This challenge, created in collaboration with Target, is for builders who want to celebrate nostalgia in a creative and fun way. With a maximum of 1,000 pieces, it’s all about capturing the essence of a moment or scene from an iconic 90s movie or TV series.
Deadline: February 7th at 6:00 AM EST
Prize: Grand prize winner will get an official LEGO set made, 10 copies for free, and 1% of net sales. A runner-up will receive 21351 Nightmare Before Christmas, 21350 Jaws and 21345 Polaroid.
Where to enter: LEGO Ideas
This one calls for a trip to the LEGO countryside! Submit photos of farm work, be it modern or medieval, as long as it’s farm life.
Deadline: February 9th
Prizes: Red Farm Tractor 60461 to photograph for a Stud Shooters feature
