Ready for another month of competitive building? Here’s a new batch of LEGO contests and challenges from all around the AFOL community for October 2021 to help you find some inspiration and motivation to build! There’s nothing quite like a theme or a prompt to take you out of your comfort zone and give you something new to try. Besides, contests are the perfect place to interact with other contestants and judges and get to know your fellow builders. And if you’re like me, a deadline helps make sure you actually finish!
We’ve listed them in order of deadline so you can plan your building time to the best advantage. Make sure to check the LEGO activity calendar for local challenges and events near you. Here at BrickNerd, some of our fondest memories, greatest building achievements, coolest trophies, and best friendships came from LEGO contests, so we really hope you try some of these out. We look forward to seeing what you build!
Get in on the theme of October by building mechs!
Deadline: Weekly deadlines throughout October
Prize: No prizes planned
Where to enter: Flickr
Build small, Star Wars themed creations in these three categories: "Scene it!", "Ride it!", and "Master it!"
Deadline: October 4th
Prize: First and second place in the “Scene it!” and “Ride it!” categories will receive a custom brick-built trophy. First and second place in the “Master it!” category will receive a custom minifigure from Firestar Toys. The highest scoring build across categories will receive a brick-built trophy.

Find a creative way to include the number 20 somewhere in a Harry Potter themed creation.
Deadline: October 6th
Prize: One grand prize winner will receive 76386 Polyjuice Potion Mistake, 76387 Fluffy Encounter, 76389 Chamber of Secrets, 76391 Hogwarts Icons - Collectors' Edition, and 76394 Fawkes, Dumbledore’s Phoenix. Two runner ups will receive 76391 Hogwarts Icons - Collectors' Edition and 6232944 Limited Edition Minifigures

This month’s photography theme from Brick Central is all about telling a compelling story!
Deadline: October 28th
Prize: No prize announced

Give your minifigures a spooky place to live!
Deadline: Post habitats between the 25th and 30th of October, then post a stacked shot on the 31st
Prize: TBA

The long-running Role-Playing-Game Guilds of Historica is celebrating ten years with a series of fun challenges, including a minifigure category and an Ancient Wonders category!
Deadline: October 31st
Prize: First and second place in both categories will receive two new falcon knight minifigures and an engraved GoH brick. First place in the Ancient Wonders category will also receive 21325 Medieval Blacksmith. First place in the minifigure category will receive a Ninjago set.

Build a microscale version of a real world building or a location in one of the fan-created LEGO Worlds!
Deadline: October 31st
Prize: Grand Prize: 21056 Taj Mahal, 2nd Place: 21042 Statue of Liberty, 3rd Place: 21051 Tokyo

Design a LEGO-themed banner for LEGO World Builder’s social media platforms!
Deadline: November 1st
Prize: $500 dollars for the winning design

How well can you present your bricks? Participate in the first ever contest hosted by Flickr and LEGO together!
Deadline: November 1st
Prize: First place will receive 4 Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe LEGO Art sets. Second place will receive 3 Marvel Studios - Iron Man LEGO Art sets. Third place will receive 3 Star Wars - The Sith LEGO Art sets.

If you like combining LEGO with gaming, why not try building your own microgame? Participate in one of three categories.
Deadline: November 4th
Prize: One grand prize winner per category will receive the exclusive chance to have your game playable in LEGO Retail stores, 1 year Unity Pro subscription, Unity Asset Store credits - 200$ USD, 71374 – Nintendo Entertainment System, 71360 – Mario Starter Course, 21166 – The Abandoned Mine. One runner-up per category will receive Unity Asset Store credits - 100$, 71360 – Mario Starter Course, 21152 – Pirate Ship Adventure, 21155 – The Creeper Mine.

Show off your appreciation for the iconic guitar by recreating a famous moment or an album cover, or whatever you can come up with!

Octrainber 2021 “Critters”
No… they’re not bug themed trains. These are light duty locomotives. Challenge yourself to build one! With six categories, there’s plenty of variety to choose from.

If you enjoy building MOCs in recent history themes, here’s a challenge for you!
Deadline: December 7th
Prize: Multiple places will be awarded BrickMania kits (which kit TBA).

The first round is over, but you can still follow the action and enjoy the themed microbuild battles that participants engage in!
