Star Wars X Building Contest

Our pals at FBTB are challenging you to build ships based on the Star Wars alphabet aurebesh. Yeah, those random characters you see all over the Star Wars universe is actually an alphabet, and you can decode any of those messages. All you have to do is pick your favorite glyph (and there's lots of fun ones to choose from!) and build a ship inspired by it. They're giving away some awesome prizes too in the form of X-Wings, including the discontinued 10240 Red Five X-wing Starfighter! Final contest submission must posted to the official contest forum thread no later than 11:59:59PM PST Sunday December 3rd, 2017.

We're also super excited to announce that FBTB is a last minute sponsor of Nerdvember and will be kicking in some vintage LEGO sets to the prize pool. You have a lot of building to do, get to it!

Y-Wing Evolved

There have been a great number of entries for FBTB's Star Wars Evolved contest, but few have made me go "whoa" (I should share that FBTB's own Don Solo was standing behind me, and had the same reaction). It's Y-Wing heritage is clearly visible, but the split nacelle mech action gives it an almost droid fighter feel. Nice work space_e!

Our pals over at FBTB have announced another awesome contest. Inspired by all the familiar but new ships we've already seen from The Force Awakens, they're asking you to pick a ship from the Star Wars universe and update, or 'evolve' it. Head over to FBTB for all the details. You have until January 16th to enter, which means you can even wait until after you see EP7 for more inspiration.

The Cutest AT-AT Ever

Here at BrickNerd we like to look back from time to time, and to the icy plains of Hoth. As is usually the case these days, Star Wars is on my mind this morning. I glanced at the Microfighters AT-AT and thought about how much better it could be. Then I thought of this, the quintessential chibi AT-AT. This is by MacLane for the FBTB Chibi contest, which happened so long ago now I don't remember if I even entered. Wouldn't have mattered though, this baby won the second it was posted.

This is officially the first post on BrickNerd ever sparked by the name of the MOC. Yes, it's a bitchin' ship from Si-MOCs, with cool color combinations and styling. But you could sell these to outlanders, spice traders and smugglers based on the name alone.

I have to admit, the first thing I thought when I saw this MOC by Lego Junkie (after the initial "ooh" of course) was with a different color scheme and some modifications it could be Santa's Boot Fighter. I guess I've got Christmas on the brain.
