Queen Aurora

Every once in a while a MOC comes along that is so colossal, so epic, that it's hard to wrap your head around. The Queen Aurora by builder messerneogeo is just such a MOC. When pictures of this started popping up on Flickr I found myself saying "what is this? Is it really that big?" Well, it it might be digital, but that doesn't diminish the truly staggering scale of this and the amount of work that has gone into no only the build, but the presentation. This is a MOC that defies logic and the "rules" of brick construction. How this flowing curve and tapered shape was accomplished is a bit mystifying to me, but it's so gorgeous I don't care. Builder JON1138 describes the model in detail in this video by the fine humans at Beyond the Brick.

BattleSHIP! Brickworld 2016

You may have already seen pictures of the ships. You may have actually been witness to the destruction. But this will be the full story on the glorious and gut-wrenching concept that was BattleSHIP at Brickworld Chicago. Simon Liu, the evil genius behind the idea, started a group just after SHIPtember, 2015. "Hey, you guys interested in playing? Ask your buddies to see if they're crazy, I mean, interested, too. " And so it began.
