Builder Petersbror is "happy with the results" of this old typewriter, I share that sentiment. Yes, way back in ancient times (when I was a kid) this was how we searched google. I actually learned to type on a machine not too much older than the one that inspired this MOC, spent hours typing FFF, JJJ, GGG, HHH. Fun fact: the QWERTY layout of keys is the direct result of machines just like this, with temperamental mechanical workings. It was invented to make typing more difficult, to separate commonly paired letters and therefore slow the typist down so the machine didn't get all bunched up. Yes, we're all typing with a handicap.

Listen up you young'uns, you don't know how good you have it. When I was in high school this is what we learned to type on, a typewriter. OK granted there was a computer lab right next door, but they still had a load of these antiquated devices and they were hellbent on using them. So this lovely and clean little MOC by cmaddison stirs up a weird combination of nostalgia and post typographic stress disorder.

Tell Your Story

For those of you too young to remember, the main subject of this piece by Chris Maddison is a typewriter.  For generations, writers would sit in front of such a machine, with a nice view through the window, and a blank sheet of paper staring back at them.  Of course there are many ways to tell a story, whether on paper, on a canvas, or with LEGO brick.  And as Chris' last build for the Iron Builder contest, what a story he's told!

Yeah kids, there's no screen on this old time laptop. Way back when this is how we put letters on paper, mechanically. This 1:1 replica of a classic Underwood by Legopard is absolutely gorgeous. I can't say it makes me nostalgic though, this baby outdates even my crusty old bones. Besides, I don't miss typewriters at all, not even the least. But I do appreciate a good LEGO prop replica, and this is top-notch.

Steamy Typewriter

I'm about to age myself again. I learned to type on a typewriter...in high school. Yes, we had computers back then, but they weren't in every classroom, and typing was considered a very good skill to have so we sat at rows and rows of typewriters hacking out fff jjj ddd kkk. For the record they were more advanced than this steampunk version by timofey_tkachev, but nowhere near as beautiful. Just look a the styling and details on this baby, gorgeous.
