Another month of competitive building is upon us! Are you ready? Here’s the latest batch of LEGO contests and challenges from all around the AFOL community for May 2022 to help you find some inspiration and motivation to build! There’s nothing quite like a theme or a prompt to take you out of your comfort zone and give you something new to try. Besides, contests are the perfect place to interact with other contestants and judges and get to know your fellow builders. And if you’re like me, a deadline helps make sure you actually finish!
We’ve listed them in order of deadline so you can plan your building time to the best advantage. Make sure to check the LEGO activity calendar for local challenges and events near you. Here at BrickNerd, some of our fondest memories, greatest building achievements, coolest trophies, and best friendships came from LEGO contests, so we really hope you try some of these out. We look forward to seeing what you build!
Build something each weekend using exactly the number of pieces corresponding to the date of the month! The later the date, the more pieces you have (but still not a lot!). The theme is “space.”
Deadline: Various through May
Prize: No prizes, just the fun of building with your LEGO!
Where to enter: Instagram with #weekendbricklimit
Design a small build that could become an official LEGO gift with purchase, but this time you have to include some kind of (simple) movement as well! And, not a car, please…
Deadline: May 12th
Prize: One grand prize winner will have their entry turned into a new Lego gift with purchase set, and will receive the 21332 LEGO Ideas Globe, 42130 LEGO Technic BMW M 1000 RR, 42139 LEGO Technic All-terrain vehicle, 42120 LEGO Technic Rescue Hovercraft, 40487 LEGO Sailboat Adventure (GWP), and 40448 LEGO Vintage Car (GWP)
Where to enter: Ideas
Build a 12x12 vignette scene with some great action inspired by one of LEGO’s licensed themes! We're talking high kicks, smoke plumes, crackling magic spells - you name it as long as your scene conveys a great sense of action.
Deadline: May 15th
Prize: One first place winner will recieve a 120EUR set of their choice, and one runner up will also get a 60EUR set of their choice.
Where to enter: Eurobricks
Build a small scene / vignette including at least one minifigure on a baseplate between 8×8 and 10×10 studs. The height also should not exceed more than 10 standard bricks in order to fit in the display.
Deadline: May 15th
Prize: One builder will win a creative display Series 8×8 in the color of their choice

Bricky the Squirrel recently arrived in BrickLink Studio but is having trouble finding any nuts. Create something fun, cheeky, and amazing using the five seed parts to help Bricky explore the world of Studio ... and maybe even find some acorns. Use any other parts you like, provided you use one of each of the five parts listed.
Deadline: May 18th
Prize: No prizes, just the fun of building with your LEGO!
Where to enter: BrickLink
Build habitats featuring your favorite Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel characters, scenes, locations, etc.!
Deadline: May 16th-21st for habitats, habitat stack must be posted on May 22nd
Prize: More information to come at the beginning of the challenge!

Celebrate LEGO’s 90th anniversary building and shooting a tribute to one of LEGO’s classic themes!
Deadline: May 27th
Prize: One grand prize winner will receive the 10297 Boutique Hotel set (or one set of equal or lesser value of their choosing), and the winner of the community vote will receive the 60350 Lunar Research Base set (or one set of equal or lesser value)
Where to enter: Discord and Instagram
Any size, any theme, but your MOC has to include some epicly sweet action! Impressive, dynamic, and unique are what you should be aiming for here.
Deadline: May 31st
Prize: One winner will receive a mystery prize including sets, pieces, and more. The top three builders will be displayed on First Order Lego’s youtube channel and linked in the description of the video.

Build a new LEGO MOC based on modern warfare movies and films. Use of Brickmania products is encouraged but not required.
Deadline: June 6th
Prize: TBA

Celebrate May the 4th with some Star Wars LEGO builds! Check out the categories and details in the dedicated thread on Eurobricks.
Deadline: June 30th
Prize: 12x12 Film Scene Recreation - First place wins the Imperial Armored Marauder, second place wins a custom figure;
Purist Minifigures - First place wins Luke Skywalker's X-Wing, second place wins a custom figure; Brick Built Creature - First place wins a set or sets with an equivalent value up to 100 Euro as their prize, second place wins one set with an equivalent value up to 40 Euro; Alphabet Fighter - First place wins a set or sets with an equivalent value up to 160 Euro as their prize, second place wins a set with an equivalent value up to 70 Euro as their prize; one Grand Admiral winner will receive a set or sets with an equivalent value up to 200 Euro as their prize.
