Spoopy LEGO: Adorably Spooky Halloween MOCs

Halloween is just around the corner, so we are gathering a delightful assortment of spoopy MOCs to add a touch of adorable spookiness to your fall festivities. And no, that is not a typo for spooky. “Spoopy” is internet slang describing cute, comical, or silly versions of typically spooky subject matter such as ghosts and skeletons. Imagine a cute little dog in a ghost costume. Yep, that’s spoopy! And what’s better to get you into a spoopy building mood than a diverse collection of Halloween-themed MOCs!?

Boo!

Let’s kick it off with nobu_tary and some cute, unsuspecting trick-or-treaters. We’ve all been there, on the cusp of fun and terror, all at the same time. But the lust for sweet candy goodness always seems to win out! (Just don’t look up how much that bright light orange bush costs or you might get actually terrified…)

Plushies That Will Petrify

These plush spoopy figures make you want to hug them! Koen Zwanenburg’s cuddly Halloween collection of characters has so much… well, character… squeezed into them I just might burst! Just be careful of all the pointy bits if you go in for the bear hug.

Clean Sweep

We move on to Mervyn Pumpkinhead, who is taking a drag from his cigarette while cleaning up after those pesky kids. Seb-toutouille encourages everyone not to litter with this BrickHeadz-like janitor. Rotate the eyebrows and you get a whole different expression!

Boo-tiful Blockheads

Dave Kaleta made these spooky blockheads a while ago, but I still think they are adorably horrific. The string on the pumpkin to make the crease lines is particularly fun, as are all the spectacular eyebrow wor—fitting that this series originally started as an exploration of emotions.

Pumpkin Bonsai

Here we’ve got what I call a MOC, or Modified Official Creation (or MOD if you get technical). For those who may not be familiar, this is a Halloween version of set 10281 Bonsai Tree. Pascal Hetzel has done a fine job loading it up with plenty of details, including some ghostly lighting effects and bulbous pumpkins. Thank heavens Isaac Newton wasn’t sitting under this tree!

Monster Mash

Okay, okay, I know, it took me six MOCs to get to a spaceship. That’s what I call building up the suspense! Michael Reigart has combined two of my favorite themes here with a TIE Fighter/Pumpkin mash-up. (See what I did there?). If this ship were chasing Luke, maybe he would have been distracted enough and missed his shot!

Surprise!

Who would ever suspect an innocuous pumpkin could transform into a formidable mech? Chris Maddison, obviously! This comes in handy if you need to take revenge for getting your trees covered in toilet paper. It’s okay, though, it only fires seeds, and you can hold this little critter adorably in the palm of your hand.

Little Ghosts

These little ghosts only have four pieces to express themselves, but what wonderful spoopiness they exude! car_mp shows us what you can accomplish with just four-quarter circle ties and your imagination.

3.14

Indeed. We end this spoopy MOC compilation with dessert, naturally! Ryan Kessler offers up a tasty treat here, with a lovely dollop of hard-hat whipped cream to boot—I bet it made the sound shpoooooop when it came out of the can!

It’s only a few days left until the big event, gang! And even if Halloween isn’t your thing (or isn’t even celebrated where you live), the resourcefulness and creativity of these builders is pretty scary, right!? We hope you’re inspired to bring a dash of spoopiness to your Halloween creations, so happy haunting!
