Nutcracker

We feasted on Thursday (well, had turkey legs on Main Street, Disneyland), enjoyed a little park time and traveled on Friday, Sat around in our jammies playing with LEGO and watching A Christmas Story on Saturday. Thanksgiving weekend is the start of the Christmas holiday at our house, and blogging this absolutely lovely nutcracker by Robiwan_Kenobi feels so appropriately timed. We have one in our living room every year, and he just happens to look almost exactly like this one. The cracked "nut" is a perfect finishing touch to this wonderful holiday tradition.

The 2016 Christmas Collection

Just in time for everyone putting their trees up! Builder and author Chris McVeigh is sharing some new ornament designs on his website. I hope I have time to build a few this year, I've been inspired since I reviewed his new book back in September, Check out these and many, many more from years past and start building some holiday cheer.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

Fun fact: I sometimes mark holidays or occasions on my calendar here at BrickNerd Studios with little drawings. This month the Star Wars logo is on the 17th and on the 25th is this childhood favorite, Charlie Brown's sad but endearing Christmas tree. This MOC by cmaddison brought a smile to my face and a little holiday joy to my heart this morning.

Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown!

Counting Down

Now that we're past my first countdown of December, we can start counting down to Christmas. This lovely interior by sanellukovic sets the mood perfectly. You can practically hear the clock ticking, Sleighride playing softly in the background, the fire crackling and sound of wrapping paper giving way to excited children's hands.  I hope there's some LEGO under that tree.

Merry Christmas to every one!

Tis The Season

I was really ready for the holiday season this year. I love listening to the music, spending time with my family, shopping for presents, drinking spiced cider, opening my letters from Cards Against Humanity and generally being jolly. I also truly enjoy all the holiday themed MOCs that pop up. This one from Legonardo Davidy not only spreads some Christmas cheer, but serves double duty as a LUG collaborative build and his latest entry in Iron Builder, pretty nifty.

'Tis the season to be jolly!

Merry Christmas From Hoth

This is a delightful holiday surprise. One of the most celebrated alternative LEGO photographers, Avanaut, is back from his hiatus. And what a lovely return it is. This tells the story of TK-24/7 on a lonely, but quite agreeable patrol mission on Hoth. Who would have thought a AT-ST could be so tranquil?

Because These Presents Aren't Going To Deliver Themselves

Christmas is only 23 days away, so I'd imagine it's full tilt boogie at the north pole right now. And with so many presents for all the good little boys and girls, delivery can get hectic. Now I know there's nine reindeer up there up to the challenge, but I think if Santa's new sleigh (wonderfully recreated here by Milan Sekiz) works out, they can all have a well deserved retirement.

Gingerbread House

Would you believe this absolutely stunning gingerbread house was built by someone who's never actually had (a situation that needs to be corrected) a gingerbread house? Builder Swan Dutchman confesses to this fact in his description. As the holidays rapidly approach I know we'll have one of these at my house, but I know for a fact it won't be nearly as amazing as this delicious work of art.

Thanks for the head's up Guy

Have You Started Your Holiday Shopping Yet?

Hey readers, the silly season is upon us. Pretty soon you won't be able to escape the holiday music and I'll be watching A Christmas Story over and over.

If you shop online please consider supporting BrickNerd and using the links here on the website. You get the stuff you were going to get anyway, and BrickNerd gets a few cents towards stocking stuffers. Every little bit helps.

Anyone Got A Quarter?

One of my favorite builders and all around swell guy Chris McVeigh is ready for the holidays and wants you to be too. As is his tradition, he's releasing a series of building guides for creating some ornaments, and has something a little different this year, arcade machines! Being a kid of the 80's I was there for the golden age of the arcade, so I find these particularly appealing. Head over to his website for building guides, kits, shirts and more.

'Twas The Brick Before Christmas

Oh, the Holiday season. Gathering with friends and family, sharing some cheer, giving some gifts... and building some MOCS? At least that’s what Seth Christe is up to this Holiday. Seth is in the midst of an excellent retelling of the Night Before Christmas poem via LEGO brick and some clever photo editing. I highly recommend clicking through the entire series and checking his flickr feed each day until the story is complete.

Guess Who's Coming To Town?

Ooooh, so exciting! It's less than three weeks until this guy comes to town. I don't know about all of you but I've been very nice. So Santa, can you hook me up with some more filmmaking equipment so I can produce even better quality episodes for everyone? Speaking of quality, check out this build by Bricks for Brains, superb! Oh, and then there's the little workshop where he and the elves make all the toys.

Kicking Off The Holidays

We had our first holiday party last night. Actually, we called it a pre-holiday kick-off party. Since traditionally things don't really get started until after Thanksgiving. But you wouldn't know it by walking into Wal-Mart, or any other retailer for that matter. So what the heck, let's get this season started with some charming little elves from True Dimensions.

Waiting For Christmas

As we transition into fall, school starts and BrickCon looms, it also means Christmas is right around the corner. Lovely, glorious Christmas, around which the entire kid-year revolves. It would seem LoctiteGirl  is looking forward to it as well, judging by this charming MOC. I love the stars breaking up and becoming snow (although I do have to wonder how those are attached).
