Read MoreThis is a compact snowspeeder done by Kit Bricksto, and it's not because an AT-AT stepped on it. The Rebel Alliance's snowspeeders have always been a popular vehicle for AFOL's to recreate in LEGO form to the best of their ability. However, I think this model stands out due to the size. To me, it seems very proportionate to a minifigure's size. Though these speeders do fit two rebels, it's not a very large ship like many LEGO models make it out to be. Each angle of the ship was still done in excellent ways, which is a bonus considering the size.
This is by far the best small-scale AT-AT I have seen in LEGO form! Thanks to MIro Dudas, we instantly recognize this iconic scene and vehicle from The Empire Strikes Back. This model is so incredibly accurate, if I happen let my eyes go out of focus, it doesn't even appear to be LEGO. It also appears that the midsection could be easily switched out with orange elements to remake this as an AT-ACT (though there are other differences between the two variants). I appreciate that Miro even included the walker's footprints in the snow, a detail others leave out of their scenes. Nicely done!
We sort of take it for granted now, but the battle of Hoth is one of the most imaginative an exciting battles ever put on celluloid. The music, the vehicle design, the action, it's all just amazing. I can vividly remember sitting in a theater, mouth agape as this scene unfolded, it was just awesome. Builder GolPlaysWithLego brilliantly pays homage to this greatest of battles with one of the coolest AT-ATs I've seen at this scale. Those nano scale snowspeeders are pretty nifty too.
Star Wars Celebration is currently underway in Orlando Florida, and I'm not there. But I am tuning in periodically to check out the live stream on StarWars.com. Yesterday there was a very heartwarming and loving tribute to Carrie Fisher, with an introduction by George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy, followed by a touching video and then John Williams himself conducting the Orlando Symphony Orchestra performing Princess Leia's Theme (I'm not crying, you're crying). Obviously I'm not the only one thinking of my princess, our princess during this celebration. Builder Miro78 put together this wonderful Leia in her Hoth costume. Her jaunty attitude comes through perfectly.
That's right LEGO Star Wars fans, we've seen a communication from a probe droid in the Hoth system and have it under good authority the rebels are there. Join me and James Morr as we build LEGO 75098 UCS Assault On Hoth live! So use your harpoons and tow cables and go for their...I mean come watch a couple dorks play with LEGO.

Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back is widely regarded as the best of all the Star Wars films. My personal favorite is A New Hope, (gotta love the original) but I love Empire too. This diorama from markus19840420 looks like a movie set, in fact it's got my juices going for some Hoth stop-motion action. Too bad I'm away from the studio this month. Click through for more pictures of this fantastic diorama.
This is a delightful holiday surprise. One of the most celebrated alternative LEGO photographers, Avanaut, is back from his hiatus. And what a lovely return it is. This tells the story of TK-24/7 on a lonely, but quite agreeable patrol mission on Hoth. Who would have thought a AT-ST could be so tranquil?
