While we were in Portugal for Paredes de Coura Fan Weekend we had the distinct pleasure of rooming with the group from LEGO. One of those people was LEGO designer Tiago Catarino, and we learned that his first set was newly on the market. Well, needless to say we nabbed one for him to sign, and another to build.

The holidays are upon us, that means A Christmas Story is on all the time at my house, fires in the fireplace, holiday tea, wrapping presents and of course a holiday LEGO set or two (or three...ok four...).

I'm having a hard time believing it, but sometime between yesterday and today BrickNerdTV, the official YouTube channel of BrickNerd.com passed one million views! When I launched the website and the accompanying YouTube channel just over three years ago, crossing this threshold was not even a notion that crossed my mind. In those days I shot in my garage, and had to setup and strike in one day so my wife could park her car when she got home. Now I write this sitting in the studio that has continued to grow for over two years since I moved in. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all that watched, commented (well, some of you :-) and shared. I'm looking forward to making some more silliness to share with you, and I can't wait to celebrate the next landmark, whatever it is. I love you all!
I've only ever seen a Caterham Seven in the wild once, at a mall in Irvine CA, but I was instantly smitten. Of course I've seen Caterham cars on TopGear many time, but seeing it in person was different. It's an unusual beast, with a energy even when parked. Well now I get to build one, and you should join me while I do it. It's guaranteed 13% more exciting than watching bananas discolor in real-time. Building starts at 10am PST, see you then!
The fine folks at LEGO were kind enough to send me a copy of the gorgeous new Caterham 7 Ideas set, and I want to build it with YOU! We don't see many of these cool cars here in the states (unless you hang out in Beverly Hills or know Simon Cowell) so they're extra exotic here. I can't wait to build it!

It's time for another round of Disney magic! Yesterday we started building the Disney Castle, and over the course of about 5 hours we managed to get just over half way done. It's a magnificent set, full of wonderful details and interesting techniques.

We're huge Disney fans at our house. We go to Disneyland several times a year, we're Disney Vacation Club owners and we can't get enough of Begal BBQ and Dole Whips. Obviously we're also huge fans of LEGO (duh) so when those worlds collide you can bet we get excited.
