Rotten Pumpkin

Fall is here. I know this by the subtle clues that have been left for me, like falling leaves, Halloween stuff in every store, and pumpkin spice everything at every turn. While I’ll happily pass on pumpkin spice marshmallows thank you very much, I do have to say I dig this imaginative and whimsical biplane from builder Markus "madstopper78" Ronge. It’s part of his larger epic fantasy world Full Steam, which it getting so much more intricate and expansive that soon I’m sure we’ll all remember watching episodes and arguing about whether or not it’s real.

Torpedo Bombers at 5 O'clock High

I love a good airplane model, especially biplanes. In freshman engineering I built a biplane for a project that I was told no one had built a biplane for, and the professor wasn’t sure it would work. It flew wonderfully. Prolific LEGO aircraft builder John Lamarck has posted a beautiful Blackburn B-6 Shark. Like many aircraft developed in the interwar years it did not have a long service life as developments happened rapidly in aviation in that time period. My only quibble is the inter-wing struts should be on an angle in the front view and not vertical, but that is likely driven more by the scale and medium.

Sopwith Camel

The description of this MOC by is so interesting I will let builder Dread Pirate Wesley speak for himself.

The Sopwith Camel is one of the most famous aircraft ever built. It holds a special place in history as the most successful allied aircraft of the Great War. It also as a unique distinction of having killed more of its own pilots than enemy aircraft did by virtue of its difficult handling characteristics in the hands of unskilled pilots. Still, the unstable flight characteristics made for an extremely agile fighter in the hands of a seasoned pilot.

Chibi Air Superiority

This is a fun little forced perspective and chibi vignette by builder Klikstyle. It featured the last biplane to see official use by the US Navy, the Grumman F3. And while I say chibi, the F3F-2 has the distinction of actually being pretty chibi in real life, with it's squat fuselage, tucked in landing gear it's got cartoony but endearing proportions, earning it the nickname "beer barrel".

Classic Biplane

From the thumbnail I thought that this was a classic wooden toy, but as you can see it's all bricks, 1000 bricks to be exact. I don't read or speak German, so I haven't a clue why builder grubaluk received 1000 2x4 tan bricks from 1000stein, but he turned them into something wonderful. Keep in mind that only 2x4 bricks were used to build this, and if you've ever tried to build something with just those bricks you'll appreciate how difficult it can be,
