Read MoreFootball season officially ended Sunday with the super-est of bowls, and while I’m not really into sports, I can appreciate how much my friends are. Take for instance my buddy Brandon Griffith, who crafted this beautiful replica of the Vince Lombardy trophy. This lovely little micro MOC by soccerkid6 of the tranquil city of Rivendell could be yours. It’s actually one of the prizes for the Colossal Castle Contest which kicked off yesterday (Yes, Nerdvember and CCC in the same month, you have some building to do). This would look awesome on any trophy shelf, especially mine…
One of the best things about building competitions is the smack talk and creative use of MOCs to intimidate as well as impress. I can see that being on the receiving end of builder Steebles' gratitude is a good place to be, his boss got this phenomenal mini Y-Wing as a thank you gift. It's amazingly detailed for it's scale and the display base is a perfect compliment. Makes you want to do something nice for him huh? Like feature him on your obscure and lame blog, yeah, that's it!
Trophies are an art form in and of themselves. Especially when they can be themed and tell a story. It takes skill to do all that in a little form factor. This is a fine example, expertly rendered by Sean and Steph Mayo. Not that getting a trophy is the only reason to compete, but it's certainly a great reward.
