Read MoreIf I didn’t have a fear of swimming (or heights), a ride on Ted Ande’s futuristic skiff Rhapsody sounds just peachy. I always enjoy seeing builders try to incorporate Technic pieces into their MOCS, and it’s especially well done in this one. I also dig the floorboard texturing.
There are never enough LEGO tall ships out there, and fortunately Ayrlego has added another to the collection out there on the web. The Royal Oak has some excellent colored layers in the hull, which instantly caught my attention. Building ships like this is no easy task, which is why I have respect for those builders who have produced incredible designs. Hoist the sails, gentlemen!
With the 5th annual SHIPtember already starting, many people are producing large spaceships at this time. Not James Pegrun, though! Instead, this builder is going a more classic route by building some old, medieval boats in the middle of a battle out at sea. James has done an excellent job at shaping the boats, while still keeping them smooth at the same time (so many brown tiles!). These boats are so excellently built, it will be a shame to see them crash into each other. . .
LEGO tall ships are a rare sight, which makes their impressive designs even more inspiring. Check out this pirating vessel by W. Navarre! A very intriguing and unique design, especially the curvature of the hull, which is my favorite part (look at that angling in the rear). So, grab your pirate crew and hop on board The Black Death! The open stud sea lies ahead. . .
Sergeant Chipmunk's newest build, Standing in the Sea, is a magnificent little work of art. From the bizarrely fitting bright color scheme, to the ever-realistic rocks, to the uniquely botanical boat sails, every element of this build invites closer viewing, and happily rewards it. It;s the kind of build that makes you wonder, who are these mysterious masked men, alone in these mysterious towers? What are they looking for? How do they get down?
Patrick Massey has put the finishing touches on a beautiful replica of a Viking warship! I like that he chose to do the hull with dark brown instead of the typical brown we see in wooden structures. The hull is well-shaped with the wonderful shields staggered on the side of the boat. The crew of this ship will have a strong defence! I think my favorite part of this ship is the dragon head on the bow. It's one of the most accurate I have seen at this scale, and I noticed multiple different Viking ships in the past few months. It would be super cool to see a whole fleet of this particular version!
If I got to pick any "job" in history it would definitely be that of a swashbuckler. I mean think about all the cool things pirates get to do - sword fight, ride on ships, drink rum, visit cool places, watch the sunset over the ocean, etc. I mean, yeah, life expectancy wasn't that great and I don't even want to think of all the diseases a pirate had to deal with. But hey why not have a little fun before you leave this earth, am I right? The great scene below by Brother Steven and his brother Mark is exactly what I'd expect the life of a pirate to be.
Although I hadn't heard of the Echoes of Imara book series, I recognize an awesome build when I see it. David Frank's been busy creating this magnificent scene from the book An Altered Fate, by Claire...Frank... Hey! Turns out he built this in honor of his wife's novel. What a guy!
Impressive details throughout, from the landscaping to the architecture, it just keeps going. The battle looks pretty cool, too.
My guess is, after all that work, she'll cut him some slack the next time he leaves the seat up.
