Review - The Fortress

My son and I are huge Minecraft fans. From the game itself, to story mode, to the collectible figures, to creating animations, to the LEGO sets...we just can't get enough of those pixelated blocks! We were lucky enough to be given the opportunity to build LEGO Minecraft's 'The Fortress' set and we were not disappointed.

/This eye-catching MOC by builder W. Navarre looks right out of an 80's fantasy movie, and I love that. It also seems to tipping it's hat to Pirates of the Caribbean, which is also pretty awesome. I think with some tweaking and more play features (and of course, good guys and bad guys) something like this would be a cool official set.
Buccaneer Brawl
/If I got to pick any "job" in history it would definitely be that of a swashbuckler. I mean think about all the cool things pirates get to do - sword fight, ride on ships, drink rum, visit cool places, watch the sunset over the ocean, etc. I mean, yeah, life expectancy wasn't that great and I don't even want to think of all the diseases a pirate had to deal with. But hey why not have a little fun before you leave this earth, am I right? The great scene below by Brother Steven and his brother Mark is exactly what I'd expect the life of a pirate to be.
Viking Fortress
/I love a little winter scene, and this is a fine example. The cracked ice is a great effect, and the snow caps on everything is very effective. Although it would appear that the little horns are just precariously balanced on those windows. Nice work Lukasz.
What do you do when a LEGO Pokémon set doesn’t quite hit the mark? Take it apart and create an alternate build using only the pieces from the original set! But how do you level up a character as recognizable as Pikachu?
