It's Goot!

No Starch Press announced the German versions of The LEGO Adventure Book, Vol. 1: Cars, Castles, Dinosaurs & More! and The Unofficial LEGO Technic Builder's Guide. I can't speak nor read German and I'll spare you the comedy of using Google Translate to generate some German wit. 

The Exodus

I once moved across the country with a U-haul, a station wagon, two guys and two barfy dogs. We did it in two days, just in time to start production on a horrible movie. So I can only imagine what it's like to be on a colonist ship, endlessly trekking across the cosmos. Of course I also just spent three days on the Disney Dream, so if there's a movie theater or two on this baby (and all you can eat ice cream) count me in. Nice build Tim, she's lovely.

Mikasa

Mike Dung is back again with another marvelous figure. This one is Mikasa Ackerman, from Attack On Titan. I love the posable joints and the build on this one, especially the spindly limbs. They just don't seem quite enough to hold her weight, which makes her even more "anime".

Arrival In Dunholm

This offering from The Brick Time Team is quite nice. It depicts the arrival of some troops in Dunholm, as they pass the old weaving mill and the stately manor of the Strindberg family. I've never seen an elevated tudor structure before, fascinating. And that house is amazing. 

Collaborative Parade

This is a neat idea. Brother Steven, Athalus, Andhe, AK_Brickster, Angry Octopus, Eklund, Gurusql, and Daken the Bladesmith all got together to build a "virtual collaborative. Each of them built one section of this parade. Yes, the photoshop is a little rough, but I'm more captivated by the idea, I like it.
 

Mothra!

I grew up watching Toho films. Saturday mornings were always improved when a giant monster was stomping through Tokyo. There's a lot to take in on this MOC. Of course there's the brick-built details of Mothra's wings, but check out the fallen bridge, excellent. And the dual rail maser cannon (not a typo), it's a beauty.

Take Cover!

Science fiction has a long and enduring history of imagining how our alien overlords will take over our planet (at least the dystopian visions, I rather prefer the E.T. scenario). This concept, of the great walking instrument of destruction, is as old as any, and still just as disturbing. I know it's become cliche, but take a second a think about it, can you imagine just how scary this would be? This thing lumbering down the main street of your home town, a wake of destruction behind it, certain death in front of it. There, you're welcome, sleep tight.

More Minions

With Despicable Me 2 coming out recently there's been a boom in Minion builds. This one is especially nice. I have to admit I take slight offense to the pupils being drawn on the eyes (but we do really need some printed eye 1x1 round tiles LEGO, nudge nudge). The overall characters are captured excellently. You wouldn't think a slope plus a 1x1 plate would make a good mouth, but look at it, it's perfect!

"The Entire Planet Is One Big City"

This is micro scale building on another level. Look at all the detail, all the subtle angles, the variations in color and texture, this is lovely. It has an amazing sense of scale for such a small MOC. Plenty more pictures after the jump. Nice work KW Vauban.

The Ice King Cometh.

All fear the Ice King! I mean, all love the Ice King...yeah that's it. He just wants to be loved (and feared). Let's face, he doesn't know what he wants. But I know I dig this MOC. Nice build Bricknave.

Carl

Not only are we going back for this one, we're going Up. One of my favorite builders, Angus MacLane brought us this phenomenal MOC of Carl Fredricksen from Disney and Pixar's UP! Angus perfectly captures Carl's essence in a small package.

Are You Ready For Some Football?!?

I hope I'm not in danger of destroying any nerd cred by posting a sports related MOC, but I have to do it. This commissioned piece by Dave Shaddix for the Arizona Cardinals is some seriously cool building. Maintaining those contours while brick-building the graphics is no easy task, and the face guard is a thing of beauty. 

Hammerhead Sky Fortress

Didn't I just blog this guy? (answer, yes) But Lego Admiral is back with an impressive quad-rotor flying fortress. It's inspired by the Helicarrier in Avengers, and is every bit as cool.

That's A Big Truck

Flickr user bricksonwheels is a master of the large vehicle, and his latest creation is no exception. This Peterbilt Rotator is a museum quality masterpiece. It's positively packed with accurate detail and subtle techniques. Just look at the taper on the hood, the contouring on the cab extension, the brick-built graphics. It's beautiful, and the crazy thing is his previous vehicle (and the one before that, and so on) is the same quality. 

R.O.B.

Like the Power Glove, Disk System and Virtual Boy, R.O.B. is one of those things from Nintendo lore (although I have to say, I did own a Virtual Boy) . Those things everyone knows about, but few owned, or even saw. This R.O.B. MOC by Bricking Robo is remarkably accurate, and instantly recognizable. Makes me want to play a game of Gyromite.

Vanguard Keep

I've often wondered where I would have lived if I were alive in the middle ages. This MOC by Silver Smith looks nice, there's a guarded keep, a small market, looks like an inn and a pub, it's perfect, very nice indeed! Now travel about three miles away to a mundane field, that's probably where I'd live. 

U.E.F. Battle Group

Here at BrickNerd we like to look back from time to time. Check out this stunning micro fleet by The Brothers Brick's own Andrew Becraft. I love the retro WWII vibe to these, and the way they are all vastly different, yet feel like they belong together. There's a chunkyness and weight to these, yet enough small detail that lends scale. And they all seem purpose built, each serving their distinct needs. A well rounded fleet indeed.

Lady Fett

I am required by the unspoken nerd code to blog this. Failing to do so would immediately render me wannabe and strip me of all privileges. You see them at nearly all sci-fi conventions, the subjects of many schoolboy fantasies, the lady cosplayers and their sexy costumes. Now she's here in LEGO form, so we can all enjoy.  Well played Kevin, well played.
