*Flick*...*Fwop Fwop Fwop*...*Shick*
/I wasn't going to post this. Not because it's not brilliant or yet another amazing build by Siercon and Coral. But because it's brilliant and yet another amazing build by Siercon and Coral. I've honestly lost count of how many MOCs I've featured by these two in the last month. But then I saw the video, and it's too damn cool not to share.
Blake Baer Tips The Scales
/Oh man, that's a bad title, sorry about that. But it's really what has happened. This entry into the first round of the MocOlympics is stunning, and stands out from the rest. It's work like this that will move on and set the bar higher and higher. We're going to see some amazing work this year, this is only the beginning.
Lego Junkie Draws First Blood
/This was a great surprise to wake up to. Lego Junkie posted the first entry to the Pimp My Nerdly contest, and it's awesome. I knew Nerdly was ready for action, but whoa!
The H.M.S. Persephone
/I've been watching the progress of this ship for a while, thanks to a bounty (see what I did there) of WIP pictures from Wes VanDell. More pictures and info are to come, and I'm sure I'll post them when they do. But in the mean time we can celebrate it's completion. She's a beauty.
Optimus Prime
/I have a nerd confession to make, I don't give a rat's LaBeouf about Transformers. I was just a little too old when they hit popularity to care as a kid, and like most of Michael Bay's movies, his movie adaptations did nothing for me (I like to watch films, not be assaulted by them). I do however really like this MOC. Even if it wasn't based on a cool cartoon and toy line, it would be awesome.
Waiting For Christmas
/As we transition into fall, school starts and BrickCon looms, it also means Christmas is right around the corner. Lovely, glorious Christmas, around which the entire kid-year revolves. It would seem LoctiteGirl is looking forward to it as well, judging by this charming MOC. I love the stars breaking up and becoming snow (although I do have to wonder how those are attached).
VW Busses Everywhere
/With FBTB's Star Warsify and Eurobricks Pimp contests both going simultaneously, this is going to be an epic month of mini VW's. They're already showing up and we're barely getting started. Being a big fan of the van, I couldn't be happier.
Armada
/This is a seriously chunky mech, perhaps the chunkiest I've ever seen. I love the color palette and details too, simple things like the 1x1 tiles add so much. Excellent work _TrapleS_!
Update: It turns out this is inspired by another seriously chunky mech, built a year ago by Zane Houston, credit where credit's due...
"I Can Drive That Loader..."
/One of James Cameron's true gifts is introducing technology that not only looks cool, but is plausible. You can really believe in the Power Loader. I can still remember watching this thing in Aliens so many years ago and just going "awesome" (with that sort of giddy little nerd dance you do in your seat). I really want to walk around in one of these some day.
Druid's Cottage
/This excellent little cottage comes to us from Legonardo Davidy . I really like the diminished foundation, both in scale and construction, it really looks like dilapidated masonry. And the rock work is very cool too. This guy needs to clean up though, the heath department frowns on too many human skulls littering your lawn.
BrickCon Is One Month Away!
/Yay! Only one month to one of my favorite times of the year and one of my favorite events, BrickCon in Seattle WA. I've got my registration done, my flight booked, my room reserved and my MOCs...oh crap...
I'm also very pleased to announce that BrickNerd is an official sponsor of BrickCon. So get ready for some nerd swag!
Skullcracker
/It's just a shiptastic morning here at BrickNerd, and I'm OK with that. This fighter by Genghis Don is super sweet. I'm even overlooking the blatant use of clone parts here, since it's done to such great effect. You won't find them often here, but in this case I couldn't resist.
Hover Fuel Tanker
/I had the distinct honor of swooshing this ship, and swoosh I did. I also had a good time with James Pegrum and Pete Reid the evening we photographed this ship and others. This craft only hints at James' building style and diversity, he's a very talented builder and I highly recommend checking out his other stuff, it's stellar.
Space Eagle
/When Kosmas Santosa was challenged by friends to incorporate rail curves into his next MOC, he didn't flinch. Instead he rocked this outstanding ship with transforming capabilities. Not only did he nail the ship, the photography is excellent, this thing's gorgeous.
Serpent Shores
/Micro builds make me happy, especially of this quality. Siercon and Coral are back (yes, it's getting a little repetitive, but look a this!) with another entry for Iron Builder. This is one of the coolest, dinky castles I've ever seen, and the action in the bay is icing on the cake.
Star Warsify The Mini Camper Contest
/My good buddies over at FBTB are running a cool contest (as opposed to mine). They would like you to turn the new mini VW camper into a Star Wars vehicle. Head over there and get all the details.
