Nerdy About The Bricks
As if there was any doubt I'd blog this. I know how you feel Link, Navi could be a bit of a nudge sometimes, but always well-meaning. This MOC by Legohaulic seems to have been in direct response to a MOC by Iron Builder rival Siercon and Coral. Yeah, it's on like Donkey Kong! (or at least Zelda). Fun fact, my alert sound on my phone is Navi saying "hey!"
You all know what a big Nintendo and Zelda fan I am, so to discover this awesome MOC in my Flickr feed this morning resulted in much grinniness. Builder Siercon and Coral are presently engaged in a battle royale with Legohaulic and Littlehaulic in another Iron Builder. The seed part is the 1x2 curved slope you see so perfectly used on the wingtips. Now I want to play a little Skyward Sword.
Julius von Brunk is back with another stellar Nintendo Transformers mashup. This time it's the venerable Gameboy Advance transforming into Vantage. I have no idea if Vantage is a real Transformer, but I vividly remember by Gameboy Advance. In fact, I modified mine with a front light so it was even more awesome.
Anyone who's ever gotten to the end of Super Smash Brothers should recognize this. I've always been more of an explorer and puzzle solver gamer, and challenges like this one frustrate me to no end. The trick here is to charge your armor, and go into a ball as the fist comes down...
I vividly remember the time when Nintendo was king. The NES was everywhere, and everyone played it. Now you can relive those golden days and do a little fun building thanks to Chris McVeigh. Bruce Lowell gets it. He understands the true level of awesome that is Nintendo. He's also a pretty excellent builder as you can see with this sweet rendition of the Arwing fighter from StarFox. Now if he was only a time lord and could go back and do something about the console crime that was StarFox Adventures, if only...
It's no secret I'm a Nintendo fan, and who can resist Yoshi? This sculpture by Joshua Christenson is impressive from both the standpoint of technique and scale. It's not easy to nail a character this well using mostly brick at this scale, but look at it, it's perfect! Oh, and did I mention it's Yoshi?!?
I shudder to think how many hours I dedicated to N64. Between Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time and Rogue Squadron I chewed up a fair chunk of my life, but I don't regret it. This tribute to the first level of SM64 by Pepa Quin just makes me smile.
Zelda has been on my mind a lot these days. In fact I brought my 3DS with me to D-Con, and Ocarina of Time is in it. I'm also eyeing one of those themed Wii U's for Christmas. So to be greeted by this awesome MOC by cmaddison this morning made me smile.
Being a long-time Nintendo fan these MOCs by dm_meister make me smile. Who can forget the thrill of scoring a mushroom and getting an extra life, slightly increasing your odds of getting to Bowser. Only then to get your butt handed to you by the boss.
Oh yeah, a Gundam style mech of Legend of Zelda's Link! Julius Von Brunk has fused japanese style mecha and nintendo's classic character, and the result is greater than the sum of it's parts. Ganondorf's about to get his butt KICKED.
I'm a Nintendo nerd, you all know that. So I'm having a hard time keeping my composure here at Starbucks (to avoid spooking the old ladies again). I'm sure all the caffeine isn't helping. This collections of MOCs just blew my mind. Not only is it a pretty spiffy MOC of a N64, controller and carts, but they TRANSFORM! Holy crap!
Like the Power Glove, Disk System and Virtual Boy, R.O.B. is one of those things from Nintendo lore (although I have to say, I did own a Virtual Boy) . Those things everyone knows about, but few owned, or even saw. This R.O.B. MOC by Bricking Robo is remarkably accurate, and instantly recognizable. Makes me want to play a game of Gyromite.
Well this is a dapper little game cartridge. Like I've said, I'm a sucker for Nintendo, and this little guy is awesome. Great building techniques to get the iconic shape of the classic Gameboy cartridge plus excellent anthropomorphization (there's a five dollar word for ya). Makes me want to dust off the Tetris.
I'm a Nintendo nerd, so what? But to tell the truth I've never really gotten into SSB, at least not to the level my boys did. They would play for hours and hours. But this is a fun little build, and iconic. I especially like the roof sections on the base, stellar.
Ok, we haven't heard from Navi in quite some time, and not at all in Twilight Princess, but I was trying to get your attention. I'm a sucker for Zelda, and this sweet little MOC caught my eye. Makes me want to build a tiny Skyloft. Nice work Faron!
