Link's House

The Legend of Zelda is totally my jam, and Breath of the Wild is an absolute masterpiece. I’ve been playing it since it came out over two and a half years ago and I’m still loving it. In fact I finished it on Wii U, then I got a Switch for father’s day and started all over again, I love it. So seeing this perfectly rendered rendition of Link’s house from builder Boba-1980 makes my nerd heart sing. It’s even got an interior where Link can rest and admire his weapon collection, brilliant.

Galloping The Plains Of Hyrule

I think it’s safe to call The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild one of my favorite games ever. I’ve been playing it since it came out in March 2017. I completed it on Wii U, but just kept playing even after restoring peace to Hyrule, and for Fathers Day last month I received a Switch, with a new copy of BotW, and promptly started playing all over again. So this sculpture of Link and a trusty steed by vincentkiew immediately had my attention, and now that I’m done writing all this I think I’ll hop on the game a few minutes before it’s time to hop in the shower.

Hey! Listen!

Here he is, in one of his most groundbreaking and phenomenal forms, Link from Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time. The Zelda series had been quite successful on NES, but nothing prepared us for just how awesome Ocarina was. Builder Julius von Brunk brings us this version of young Link, armed with his Deku shield and what looks to be the Kokiri sword. He looks totally ready for action, and I'm totally ready to play.

Huge 8-Bit Link

The Legend Of Zelda, in all it's forms, is over 30 years old. It's amazing to me that we've been following the adventures of young Link for so long, yet every release is just as exciting as the last. The world just got Breath of the Wild, and it's absolutely stunning (and will occupy all of my spare time for probably the next year). Builder BRICK 101 is clearly a fan, and has built this amazing large scale 8-bit version inspired by the Amiibo version. Not only that, but he's made a video detailing how it's built so you can make one yourself!

A Link to a New Game

Brace yourself, Zelda fans. . .There's a really cute Link figure ahead of you.  In honor of the release of the newest installment of the Legends of Zelda video game series, BrickinNick built a little Link display piece!  Using simple pieces and techniques (hey, there's nothing wrong with a simple build!), the builder captured a likable and greatly posed figurine.  Did you get the game yet?

Nathaniel Stoner

My name is Nathaniel Stoner, and I am an very active LEGO builder.  I mostly build in the themes of castle and science-fiction, but I also dabble in other genres and create occasional random MOC's (My Own Creations).

When I was younger, I would get and build small LEGO sets for my birthday, but I was never really into them.  When they fell apart, I would become frustrated attempting to put them back together and would throw them in a box in my closet.  I couldn't stand them!

Then, miraculously, I became addicted to the LEGO brick later in my teen years.  Ever since, I have continued to build up (pun intended) my collection of bricks and to expand my knowledge of techniques and building skills.  LEGO is truly more than a toy, its an art form and a way to express yourself.

For the most part, I collect LEGO Star Wars (mainly the minifigs), which is probably my favorite LEGO theme.  I have a fairly decent collection, including some of the original 1999 sets, such as the Snowspeeder, X-Wing, and Naboo starfighter.  I also collected LEGO the Lord of the Rings when those sets first came out.  The minifigs are great, and the story remains one of my favorites ever.

My hope is to inspire other young (and perhaps even older) LEGO builders to unleash their inner creativity!  You can find me on my Flikr here

A Link Between Worlds

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds was the last game I finished on my Nintendo 3DS. It took me forever since I don't get much gaming time, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now I'm waiting not-so-patiently for Breath of the Wild for my new Wii-U (yes, I finally bought one) but in the mean time I'll admire this beautiful studs up mosaic by hd_lego and reminisce about the ability to stick to walls to evade enemies and transition between worlds, what a handy trick.

LEGO Mosaic: A Link Between Worlds

Link

I admit I'm not much of a gamer. Not from lack of enthusiasm or interest, but time (and skill, I'm pretty bad). But there's one game character that gets a squee out of me every time, and when I saw this brilliant Link from Legend of Zelda by builder NKubate I'm not ashamed to admit a sharp inhale of breath and an eye pop. This is by far one of the best renditions of Link I've ever seen, and it makes my nerd heart go pitter patter.

The Wind Waker

There seems to be an intrinsic link between Nintendo gaming and MOCs. Think about it, there are SO many cool creations out there inspired by the likes of Mario and other Nintendo characters. But by far my favorites are Zelda MOCs, and this one is actually in the home stretch on LEGO Ideas. It has just over a month left and only about 1500 votes needed to get it into consideration. It's got my support, how about yours?

Hey! Listen!

My love for the Zelda franchise is well known, I'm also pretty fond of builder powerpig. So to have this pop up in my Flickr feed was a total squee moment for these very weary eyes. When Link was "cartooned" for the Windwaker title it was controversial to say the least, but I can honestly say I never really cared much. It took a short while to get used to, but the game was phenomenal. This Brick Sketch of our favorite quiet hero is perfect.

Hey! Listen!

As if there was any doubt I'd blog this. I know how you feel Link, Navi could be a bit of a nudge sometimes, but always well-meaning. This MOC by Legohaulic seems to have been in direct response to a MOC by Iron Builder rival Siercon and Coral. Yeah, it's on like Donkey Kong! (or at least Zelda). Fun fact, my alert sound on my phone is Navi saying "hey!"

Stained Glass Link

BrickNerd_MOCstalgia.jpg

Here at BrickNerd we like to look back from time to time, this time to Hyrule. Posting about the Cuusoo project reminded me of this wonderful Legend of Zelda mosaic by Bolt of Blue. It was at my first BrickCon, and the first time I saw a mosaic in person of something I'm a fan of. I was captivated. Not only is it a mosaic, it's designed as a stained glass window. When back-lit this thing is gorgeous.
