One of my favorite builders and all around swell guy Chris McVeigh is ready for the holidays and wants you to be too. As is his tradition, he's releasing a series of building guides for creating some ornaments, and has something a little different this year, arcade machines! The king of future weapons Nick Brick is back with some superior firepower, the BR-55 Battle Rifle from Halo 2 Anniversary. I've never donned armor and charged a battlefield, but if I did I'd want something this beefy and imposing as a weapon. The contouring, clever offsetting, smooth construction and attention to detail on this thing is stunning, you just wanna grab it and start going "pew pew"
SWF seeks SWM. Must enjoy sleeping most of the day, catnip, suddenly running into adjacent rooms, needlessly howling in the middle of the night, barfing on bedsheets, destroying sofas, vehemently cleaning oneself, laying on keyboards, accidentally calling 911 and of course, pooping in a box of sand.
I can still remember the first time I played Doom. We were enjoying a little down time at the vfx company CafeFX and someone loaded it up. I remember watching with fascination and thinking what a leap it was from Wolfenstein, the future of gaming was looking bright. Well, some 20 years later and my good buddy Iain Heath has built pretty much the ultimate LEGO tribute to the game and it's colorful levels and characters. Well played sir, well played.
Being a kid of the eighties, I lost (invested?) a considerable amount of coin in these wonderful time wasters, but I don't regret it. The golden age of the video arcade is over, but like it, big hair, gloves on one hand a parachute pants, I got to experience it first hand. I lived it. The game Titanfall seems to have been quite a bounty of inspiration to builder and weapon master Nick Brick. His latest offering is the Hemlok BF-R, and it's a beauty. Nick's attention to detail and excellent building techniques combined with stellar weapon design from the game's makers results in a fantastic MOC.
This MOC by vitreolum is inspired by the classic RPG Arcanum. On one side is technology and equipment, the other potions and magic. And what magic indeed, that tentacled creature built from the minifig tentacle legs and Mixel eyes is brilliant. There's lots of detail here, click through for a larger pic.
Just when I thought I could go back to not caring about soccer (hey, the World Cup is over and I'm American), Siercon & Coral bring us their entry to the Eurobricks Turtle Madness Contest. And just like Koopa Paratroopa dominates the field, I think they may dominate this contest with this entry.
I will admit, beyond just the coolness factor of this MOC, I have no background on it. I never played Bioshock Infinite, and have no real knowledge if it. So I consulted my resident expert (12 year old Connor) and I have it under good authority this this is "awesome". I have to agree.
This so needs to be a thing. Builder Kosmas Santosa has mashed up Titanfall and classic World War II conflict in this amazing MOC. How cool would that alternate universe be? Imagine these things walking out of the water on Normandy Beach. Somebody call EA quick!
In fact, I still have my original GameBoy in a box in my garage. None of these MOCs by lego27bricks is new, but they've all been assembled for the first time to show a proud heritage of the greatest handheld gaming device, the Nintendo GameBoy. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some dungeon mischief to manage in Lowrule on my 3DS XL...
He may not have been the very first final boss, but he was probably the one the most people have gone up against. Meet Bowser, from Nintendo's ubiquitous series of Mario games. Bowser is the widely considered the principal cause of damage to Nintendo game controllers (due to caffeine-fueled rages of frustrated gamers). This version by Sir Nadroj is pretty perfect (and not likely to cause any damage).
I'm a sucker for a good Zelda MOC, and this is a good Zelda MOC! Julius von Brunk has brought together LEGO, Zelda, style and functionality to this amazing desk lamp featuring the spiritual stones.
We're nearing the end of this round of Iron Builder, but these fierce competitors aren't letting up. Check out this game console from Onosendai2600! As a quarter-poor teen I spent a lot of time with these contraptions, but none this cool (except maybe the sit-down vector Star Wars game, my all time favorite).
I was 13 when my grandpa Chet surprised us with our very own Atari 2600, the perfect age. We played that thing until our hands ached and our eyes bled. And when we went to bed, we could still see invaders from space when we closed our eyes, good time. Very nostalgic build lego27bricks.
Titanfall has certainly inspired a lot of building by Nick Brick. But I'm not complaining, the weapons and props from that game are amazing, and LEGO versions of them are even amazinger. I do have to wonder if I could spread cheese with this data knife though, or is just good for stabbing technology I hate? I know a printer that needs a good stabbing'.
Your eyes, don't trust them. Iain Heath was so inspired by the graphics of the game Monument Valley that he decided to give them a go in bricks. And the results are visually captivating. There is a bit of photoshop trickery involved here, so don't rack your brain too much trying to figure it out. Click through for a behind the scenes pic.
90's video game platformers were ruled exclusively by a chubby plumber and a blue anthropomorphic hedgehog until an earthworm named Jim, uh, wormed his way into our hearts. Earthworm Jim left a huge impact on the video games industry with bizarre art style and quirky, slightly off-color story.
Daiman has done good job of imagining our slimy invertebrate hero into LEGO brick. I especially like Jim himself and his trusty, over-sized red blaster.
Ultimately the popularity of Jim and his super spacesuit just couldn't keep up with Mario and Sonic, leaving Jim just a fond memory in the hearts of millennials everywhere.
I have a confession, I haven't played Portal. It's not that I have anything against it, I just don't have an X-Box that's not buried in Flaming Hot Cheetos wrappers in one of my boys' rooms. I watched my son play a bit though, and I have the soundtrack, does that count? (nerd cred -2, damn). Lego Junkie drops the mic with this, his 14th and final MOC for Iron Builder, and it's awesome.
Over the years there have been many attempts to get a piece of the handheld market from Nintendo. One that was actually not bad was the Neo Geo Color. It ate batteries like there was no tomorrow, but it came with Sonic The Hedgehog, which was pretty cool. This version by lego27bricks is spot-on.
