Read MoreA little over a year ago, in a galaxy far, far away, we were introduced to a little green—yet 50-year-old—foster child with an insatiable appetite for just about anything it could cram down its throat. By now, you know who I am talking about. It’s “The Child” from the Disney Plus streaming Star Wars show The Mandalorian. Even after two seasons, mysteries still cloud this little creature who we now know is named Grogu. (Really? Grogu?) No matter what you want to call it, Grogu, Baby Yoda or The Child, it clearly stole the spotlight. Sorry, Mando.
Read MoreThe world’s obsession with this little guy continues, and the quality of the fan-built versions of him (her?) continues to grow. This version by builder L-DI-EGO is now my new favorite, with a scale that seems just about 1:1. I especially love the simulated subsurface scattering of the ears, brilliant.
I can’t recall the last time the collective nerd community and the internet in general went so nuts for a new character (baby Groot maybe?). It’s caught Disney and toy companies off guard, it’s a continual headache for Disney’s IP stormtroopers and the maker community has gone into a building frenzy. The AFOL community is also madly clicking bricks inspired by this adorable little guy, including this one by builder hachiroku24, my favorite so far.
I suppose this is technically a spoiler, but if you haven’t seen “baby Yoda” by now, just how comfortable is it under that rock? And yes, I know it’s not Yoda, he died before the events of The Mandalorian, but we’ve never been told his species, so everyone is just calling him or her (yeah, it could he a her) “baby Yoda”. Episode 4 comes out tomorrow, and while I’m excited for some feasting here today on Thanksgiving, I sorta wish it was Friday already. In the mean time I’ll just admire this pair of excellent figures by builder BaronSat.
Creating LEGO cityscapes is an AFOL passion, but how do you build sidewalks and curbs that curve like in real life? We share some step-by-step instructions using some helpful new elements to make sure your city has curb appeal.
Monet painted his garden many times, exploring changes in color and time of day. Meredith Najewicz follows his lead, rebuilding the LEGO Art Water Lilies set with a darker palette and some creative part substitutions to cast the lilies in a different light.
It is time to take to the skies to see all the LEGO floating islands that populate our imaginations. Check out these gravity-defying rocks and learn why they might be one of the best ever collab ideas.
Old LEGO magic still has its charms. We revisit Borgin and Burkes and Dumbledore’s office to compare how their buildings, curious objects, and magical creatures have changed across generations of Harry Potter sets.
Want to customize a minifig without fancy printers or toxic fumes? Learn how to use the dark art of reductive design to literally erase the line between official and custom LEGO parts.
LEGO meets tabletop combat in the Brassbound universe. We talk with creator Paul Antoine about designing microscale armies, turning builds into game pieces, and developing games with a growing community.
When a legendary archaeologist minifigure meets the spin cycle, adventure calls! Follow along as we reclaim the lost fedora of Indiana Jones and uncover how to repair a LEGO keychain.
