Lalibela Upbeat and Dawn Resurgent

So much thought and detail goes into original creations by Eero Okkonen that your first instinct is to think “what’s this from?” The notion that it has just burst from his imagination into being seems somehow hard to grasp. But all great ideas start as just that, ideas. I could totally see this and other creations by Eero being developed into a graphic novel or series, and I’ll be able to look back and say “I was there when it began”.

Vereftoi Radiante and Salamander Sword

Right about now you’re wondering who this is, so was I. Normally about that same time I’m thinking about the research I’m about to dive into so I can share this with at least some knowledge. But I’ll spare you the google, this is an original creation by Eero Okkonen, no deep dive necessary. If you want to learn more though there’s a ton of pictures and description on Eero’s website, and it’s an absolute treasure trove let me tell you.

Torrac's Race Bike

Of all the intricate pieces Lego builders have at their disposal, perhaps the most ironic one and the one we take for granted the most is the piece separator. It is a highly valuable tool that can spare your nails from extreme pain by separating those two 2x2 plates that have spent an eternity attached to one another after a child decided they would fit nicely together. This speeder by Inthert perfectly illustrates a wonderful use of this often forgotten piece that creates a fascinating shape. Let’s just hope the speeder doesn’t feel the wrath of the piece separator mid-flight!

Turbinia

Don’t you sometimes feel the urge to speed across a desert planet, leaving a trail of alien dust behind you? If so, this speeder by David Roberts 01341 is perfect for you! This massive turbine speeder bike looks like it was pulled straight off a podracer. But knowing podracing, it is safe to assume that this speeder will be stolen to make a podracer instead! Just remember, what happens in the Outer Rim stays in the Outer Rim.

NALSAR

There are very few things that are more American than NASCAR races. Hopping on the couch with a soda in one hand and the remote in the other, watching grown men drive cars in loops, one left turn after another, and secretly hoping to see a highly entertaining car wreck. But replace those cars with speeders and now you’re onto something! PigletCiamek has created NALSAR which is sure to satisfy your desire for speed and danger. Now THIS is podracing!

Coruscant Graffiti

I wouldn't normally post a digital model, but I'll make an exception for this baby. I know that the designers took direct inspiration from hotrods when designing the speeders for EP1, so it seems fitting that it should come full circle. Or as Vader would say "the circle is now complete". I can see this parked in front of Mel's, waiting for a milkshake to be delivered by droid.
