The Ordo-nary Extraordinary World of the Honeycutt Twins

LEGO builder Ordo (Fabian B) is no stranger to BrickNerd. Back in 2018, we shared his fun Duel of the Fates build, but since then Ordo has shifted gears from a galaxy far, far away to the Highlands of Scotland to tell the story of a set of twins who are a bit more magical than they seem.

Through an ever-growing series of vignettes, Ordo tells the story of the Honeycutt Twins, Abigale and Adrian, who receive some mail from a peculiar postman that alters their lives forever. It seems their magical mischief is no accident and that there is a school for extraordinary pupils awaiting their arrival by train.

While Adrian’s torso might seem to imply they are going to the exclusive LEGO Master Builder Academy, the twins end up in a different kind of Ivy League—and have to run through some walls in order to get there.

If you haven’t noticed so far, be warned that we are about to enter the Ordo-nary extraordinary reclaimed wizarding world.

I reached out to Ordo about his inspiration behind this series, who said the story came from his earliest and fondest memories of LEGO is when the Harry Potter sets were first released in 2001:

“When LEGO started releasing new Harry Potter sets recently, I took that as a hint to read the books again. Inspired by the story and with a lot of cool new minifigures at hand, I figured it was the perfect time to add some of my own ideas to this great fictional universe.”

Ordo says the story is meant to reinvent some of the magic in a new era that will “showcase the daily going-ons at Hogwarts and what life being a Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw is like.” The story is meant to be more lighthearted than some of his usual writing while the vignettes are likely to stay small and as detailed as possible.

I, for one, can’t wait to see the builds and read the story of what mischief the Honeycutt Twins get into at Hogwarts as they make the wizarding world their own (just like Ordo is reinterpreting one of his favorite LEGO themes).

If you haven’t yet read the brief stories about the Honeycutt twins, you can find them in a special gallery on Ordo’s Flickr or Instagram.
