This was a great surprise to wake up to. Lego Junkie posted the first entry to the Pimp My Nerdly contest, and it's awesome. I knew Nerdly was ready for action, but whoa!
With FBTB's Star Warsify and Eurobricks Pimp contests both going simultaneously, this is going to be an epic month of mini VW's. They're already showing up and we're barely getting started. Being a big fan of the van, I couldn't be happier.
Yay! Only one month to one of my favorite times of the year and one of my favorite events, BrickCon in Seattle WA. I've got my registration done, my flight booked, my room reserved and my MOCs...oh crap...
I'm also very pleased to announce that BrickNerd is an official sponsor of BrickCon. So get ready for some nerd swag!
My good buddies over at FBTB are running a cool contest (as opposed to mine). They would like you to turn the new mini VW camper into a Star Wars vehicle. Head over there and get all the details.
Hey fellow LEGO nerds, it's contest time! We want to see how you interpret or trick out Nerdly. Your creativity is the only limit in this contest. Lino Martins sparked this with his hot rod Nerdly, but how about a Star Wars Nerdly, or a Mickey Mouse Nerdly, or a Neo Classic Space Nerdly, or super hero Nerdly? (I think you see where we're going with this) Get your bricks out and enter by September 30th!
To download instructions for Nerdly visit this link. But you don't have to follow them, get as creative as you want.

There's a new LUG in town! If you, like me, are convinced you're the only one around who "likes to play with LEGO" you may be surprised to find out there are more of you out there. And now you have a LUG to bring you all together. Introducing GAULUG, The Gauteng LEGO User Group. You can find out more info on their website here.
The Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary project has Achieved 10K supporters and is now in review by LEGO. Fingers crossed Ghostbusters fans, this is a very cool idea. I want a Luis Tully figure though.
I won't be there, but if you're in the bay area come check out the MOCs and LEGO nerds at Bricks By The Bay. The exhibition is Sunday, Aug 11 from 10am-4pm at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara.
BrickNerd is way too new and small to be even a faint blip on LEGO's PR radar, so I get my news like you guys, from the internets. I saw several posts about LEGO announcing that The Simpsons would be coming in 2014. But I've seen no official image, no official news release excerpt and no page on lego.com. It all seems like either rumor or leak. Either way, LEGO is quiet.
There has been images floating around for weeks, but it's finally official. LEGO has announced series 11 of their wildly popular collectible Minifigures line. My personal favorite is the Island Warrior, but the Welder is a close second. Now if I could actually get them locally...
If you're going to order online, help us out and use the links on the right >
BrickFair is go!
The AFOLs have gathered and setup is in the works. If you're going to be in the Chantilly VA area this weekend swing by the Dulles Expo Center and check out some amazing LEGO creations by very talented builders.
Today is the last day you can enter to win a Nerdly! Three lucky winners are going to get a Nerdly desktop model. For more details click here!
It has been eight years since the first post on TBB, and what an eventful eight years it has been. TBB was one of the first websites I found when I was discovering that I wasn't the only adult playing with LEGO ("adult" used here as a measurement of time, not maturity). They've been a source of inspiration and information for years and they're nothing less than awesome. Happy B-Day TBB!
San Diego Comic-Con is only a few days away. If you're attending I'd like to invite you to a panel, BrickJournal: LEGO as an Art Form. It's on Saturday at 5:00PM in room 23ABC. It features BrickJournal's Joe Meno, LEGO Artist and STUDS founder Brandon Griffith, world famous LEGO artist Nathan Sawaya and me (wait a minute, me?) Yes, for some reason I was invited to sit on this panel with three totally awesome AFOLs, go figure.
Every year I look forward to the holiday season just like any other kid. And every year I look forward to adding to my collection of winter sets from LEGO. This year we are treated to a little market, complete with several vendors, a park bench and a cute little merry-go-round.

The LEGO SDCC exclusives have been revealed, and they're pretty sweet. Hundreds are supposed to be given away next week so limber up those line waiting muscles and wear comfortable shoes.
