Read MoreFun fact: I worked on Spiderman 2. Not so fun fact: I spent most of the time working on a single shot that was when this guy showed up and some metal panels got pulled off the wall, blink and you missed it. Doctor Octopus, depicted here by vitreolum, is one of those villains that everyone knows, but no one really “knows”, you know? He’s actually a pretty complex character, who just happens to be a mad scientist with mechanical appendages hell bent on proving his genius while smashing Spiderman.
Looks like Doc Ock has a serious beef with the Daily Bugle's editorial board-Yikes! My old pal Thorsten Bonsch has shifted gears from his Batcave series to the Marvel Universe. There's lots to appreciate in this action packed scene; from the lettering in the floor to the curved city-scape mural on the back. And even though things look dire for our web-slinging hero, I'm sure Spidey will ultimately save the day. Just hopefully before the evening deadline...
I've never been too much into comics, they just weren't available in the little town I grew up in. But I did manage to get my grubby little paws on some occasionally, and my two favorites were Iron-Man and this guy, brilliantly built by umamen. I remember having several action figures of Spidey as a kid too, and none of them had the poseability of this brick-built one, making it even more impressive.
Sorry to stoop to potty humor, but this interior vignette by Mark van der Maarel is too good not to share. There's so many fun details and clever construction in this MOC, and I can't decide what's my favorite. I'll leave it up to you all to pick yours.
When I was a kid, Spiderman was my favorite super hero (Ironman too, but there were less toys). I have fond memories of racing around the cup-de-sac with my inexplicable Spiderman motorhome with my Mego figure inside. Now nobu_tary has created one of the best MOCs of everyone's favorite web slinger I've ever seen.
Builder tkh / ieyasu has added to this already impressive group of super heroes with the addition of Batman and Green Lantern. I'd say now they're ready to take on just about any challenge. I like how the basic structure is the same on these figs but each is totally unique, and awesome.
While this isn't necessarily a MOC per say, it's still LEGO art in my opinion, and it's compelling. Builder Grantmasters has skillfully and patiently arranged all manner of LEGO elements to create an image inspired by Fleer's Ultra Spiderman cards from the 90's. The effect is quite cool.
I wasn't much into comics as a kid, but if I had a favorite it was probably Spiderman. His internal struggles always captivated me, and his snarkiness appealed to my shared somewhat disrespect for authority figures. This latest Brick Sketch by Chris McVeigh has to be one of the most complicated yet. That string work in phenomenal.
The LEGO SDCC exclusives have been revealed, and they're pretty sweet. Hundreds are supposed to be given away next week so limber up those line waiting muscles and wear comfortable shoes.
Think you know LEGO Space? Think again. Before Blacktron hit the shelves, there was Jim Spaceborn, a forgotten comic that hinted at villains, megaships, and an entire LEGO publishing universe lost in time.
