Ready for another month of competitive building? Here’s a new batch of LEGO contests and challenges from all around the AFOL community for June 2021 to help you find some inspiration and motivation to build! There’s nothing quite like a theme or a prompt to take you out of your comfort zone and give you something new to try. Besides, contests are the perfect place to interact with other contestants and judges and get to know your fellow builders. And if you’re like me, a deadline helps make sure you actually finish!
We’ve listed them in order of deadline, so you can plan your building time to the best advantage. Make sure to check the LEGO activity calendar for local challenges and events near you. Here at BrickNerd, some of our fondest memories, greatest building achievements, coolest trophies, and best friendships came from LEGO contests, so we really hope you try some of these out. We look forward to seeing what you build!
A multi-round contest with a focus on constraction creations, the Bio-Cup is a great place to flex your character building skills!
Deadline: Round 1 ends June 8th
Prize: For best in show, Vohtarak and Furno Bike. First place in the tournament, official Hero Factory concept art, Scout Trooper and Speeder Bike, Storm Beast, a custom-cast Socketball Mask, and a 1st place trophy. Second place, General Grievous, Ikir Creature of Fire, Prototype Bionicle Pieces, and a custom-cast Socketball Mask. Third place, Umarak the Destroyer, Krekka, and a custom-cast Socketball Mask. There will also be redemption round prizes, prizes for this first three rounds, a prize for the most creative, and raffle prizes.

Challenge your building skills with an intensive week of six vignettes, each one with a different theme!
Deadline: Daily deadlines starting June 14th
Prize: First place will receive 71741 Ninjago City Gardens, second place will receive 75810 The Upside Down, and third place will receive 10270 Bookshop.

Design a police station to meet the needs of your community, built out of LEGO bricks. Sponsored by the National Law Enforcement Museum.
Deadline: June 16th

LGBTQIA GayFOLs members around the world will be submitting entries to the Virtual Pride Parade. Show how you will celebrate Pride where you are. Stretch your building skills, get artistic, tell a story or build something meaningful. #GayFOLsPride2021

Prize: Winners in six different categories will receive prizes (TBD): Design, Construction, Photography, Most Original Idea, Best Parade Entry, and Judge’s Choice

Celebrate Pride Month with rainbow builds! Build anything rainbow-related with the #rainbowbuildchallenge or modify the new Everyone is Awesome set with #mylegorainbow.

Prize: Building along with your fellow AFOLs.

Ever wanted to design your own comic book cover? This contest has two categories, one for brick-built entries, another for LEGO themed drawn or graphically designed entries!
Deadline: June 22nd
Prize: One grand prize winner in each category will receive: 76178 LEGO Super Heroes Daily Bugle, 76187 LEGO Super Heroes Venom Head, 76199 LEGO Super Heroes Carnage, and Spider-Man Premium Format™ Figure by Sideshow. One runner-up in each category will receive: 76178 LEGO Super Heroes Daily Bugle.

Build a dystopian themed minifigure for LEGO World Builder!

Prize: One custom LEGO World builder model.

Looking to build something Harry Potter related? Here’s an incentive!
Deadline: June 30th
Prize: First place, a MOC of Tom Riddle's diary designed by Joachim Klang. Second to fifth place, 76389 Chamber of Secrets. Sixth to tenth, 76395 Flight Hours.

Microscale LEGO building has it’s own challenges—flex your skills in this multi-round competition!
Deadline: Round 1 ends June 30th

Flex your forced perspective skills for LEGO World Builder’s June banner design project!
Deadline: June 30th
Prize: $250 for at minimum three designers
Where to enter: Tongal (note: you are not allowed to share images anywhere else)
What would you like to see for a LEGO themed puzzle? Take inspiration from the four themes of Space & Astronomy, Nature, Retro, and Architecture to create an entry that could end up being produced as an actual puzzle!
Deadline: July 20th
Prize: One winner for each of the four categories will receive “goodies” from LEGO Publishing and Chronicle Books, 21322 LEGO Ideas Pirates of Barracuda Bay, 21324 LEGO Ideas 123 Sesame Street, 21325 LEGO Ideas Medieval Blacksmith, and 21326 LEGO Ideas Winnie The Pooh. Any entries that are independently chosen to be produced as puzzles will be rewarded with 1% of the net sales and 10 copies of the puzzle.

Ready to try to combine humor and trains? Make the judges laugh with a LEGO railcar… if you can!
Deadline: Noon, July 23rd
Prize: First prize is an 8-wide TBRR tank car kit designed by Edward Chang, with custom award printing. Second prize, a new-in-box Brickstuff animated Metroliner billboard for your town. Third prize, a LEGO "Charles Dickens Tribute," 40410, new in box. There is also a “build bonus:” $100 in booth credit at the Brick Rodeo “Too Many Bricks” booth for the best physical entry that is actually brought to the show. And for the top dozen entries, a "2021 Funny Freight" 1x8 bricks each.

With six categories ranging from old favorites like 12x12 vignette to less frequently visited subthemes like Asian, the Summer Joust has something for every medieval builder!
Deadline: July 31st
Prize: There are two prizes for each category, and also the Conquering Hero award (21325 Blacksmith Shop) for the entrant with the highest average score out of three entries, the Grand Architect (71718 Wu’s Battle Dragon) for highest scoring entry overall, and Expert Artisan (10281 Bonsai Tree) for best presentation.
