Members of the STUDS booth at DesignerCon took some time this afternoon to speed build the Tower of Orthanc, an event sponsored by FBTB. They made quick work of this set with a time of 36 minutes and 56 seconds. You can spot OneLUG's amazing Orthanc tower in the background of some shots.

At Minecon last weekend LEGO displayed a very cool forced perspective mosaic. Here's a video of it's creation.
LEGO has announced a fascinating project, LEGO Minecraft Cobuild. They're jumping in the Minecraft world with both feet and are inviting you to help. Watch the video and visit the Facebook page for more info.
Our pals over at FBTB are running a cool contest, with cool prizes. Now, before you start slamming together your Q-Wing, there's some rules. You first have to submit a minifigure that will serve as your pilot, and then you'll be assigned a letter for your ship and your pilot must fit inside. I'm so excited for this book. Some of the best times I had in England were just hanging out at Pete Reid's place. We'd drink tea, build and photograph all day, it was great. Now his much anticipated book is almost here. And he's a little teaser...

It's BrickCon time! Tables are being set up, MOCs are getting unloaded and AFOLs are gathering. I'm going to be producing at least most of the next episode of BrickNerd right here, should be interesting.
First off, let me say that I'm absolutely blown away by the response to this contest. I never dreamed there would be so many entries, and I certainly didn't expect the quality to be so totally awesome. I am humbled and honored to have inspired so much quality building, you're all amazing.
But there can be only three winners (at least by my totally arbitrarily set rules) so here they are...
1st Place - Lego Junkie
Nerdly might be a strong personality, but he's also plastic. So careful where you point that magnifying glass.
2nd Place - Ochre Jelly
There have been many rumors of the origins of Nerdly, this is just one. I'm not confirming or denying this, but I will caution against wounding him, just in case he has acid blood.

If at first you think you see Nerdly, don't be surprised if he transforms. He is in disguise.
