That's Damme Funny

It was exhausting, exhilarating, funny, sad, inspiring, unnerving, painful, refreshing, frustrating, rewarding and candid. But mostly it was just fun.
It was BrickCon, and I can't wait until next year.
There's so much about this I love I'm having trouble keeping my composure. Actually, who's going to care, the puppies? (does little happy dance, no one knows). This is an excellent little bit of Photoshop and photography. It hits the mark for total retro look, right down to the Brickarms ray gun. There's some great subtle humor in the text too. I want to watch this series right now!
For completely selfish reasons, because I want to have them! I love Zelda, I've been a fan for ages. These are a really cool sets, they hit all the marks and I think they would be good sellers. Despite the outcome of the last fully supported Zelda Cuusoo project, I vote we all keep trying until LEGO relents.
LEGO designer Mark Stafford gives us a rare peek behind the scenes at LEGO with this prototype for Space Police 5982 Smash'n'Grab. Many factors determine what goes into a final set, and typically many prototypes are created. It is not uncommon for a more elaborate model to be simplified somewhat to meet the constraints of manufacturing. In this case budget limitations mandated simplification when this model switched places with the 5983 Undercover Cruiser's price point.
This is an exciting day! For over two months I've been working day and night to get ready, and now BrickNerd belongs to the world. I'm considering this a "soft launch" while we work the kinks out. Please send any feedback you have to me. The full launch is on July 1st.

I'm very happy to be adding my first official post to BrickNerd. This site represents a new beginning for me, a chance to start anew. For over two decades I have worked in the motion picture industry as a visual effects artist, but that aspect of my life and career is going on the back burner. All those years pale in comparison with the number of years I've been captivated with LEGO. As a child I played, as a teen I collected, as an adult I build. The bricks to me represent an art medium and challenge.
BrickNerd is the place I can share my passion, and hopefully entertain you. It's also a work in progress, and will continually evolve. I want it to be the best LEGO fan site on the internet, and I'd love to hear your ideas for what you want to see. Send your feedback, good or bad, to tommy@bricknerd.com.
