Portal To The Moon

I have a confession, I haven't played Portal. It's not that I have anything against it, I just don't have an X-Box that's not buried in Flaming Hot Cheetos wrappers in one of my boys' rooms. I watched my son play a bit though, and I have the soundtrack, does that count? (nerd cred -2, damn). Lego Junkie drops the mic with this, his 14th and final MOC for Iron Builder, and it's awesome.

Red And Lord Helix

Twitch Plays Pokemon is one of those social experiments that seems to bring a great many people pleasure, with seemingly next to no benefits to society. But you can't get that many people in one place interacting without some spark of inspiration or restoration of faith in humanity. And anything that sparks creativity can't be bad. Besides, it inspired this MOC by Âtin, so it's all good.

Naughty Robot

Pete Reid and Chris Salt have stumbled across some evidence of some otherworldly electro-mechanical mischievery. This little robot really means no harm, but he is a little shy, and just a tad clumsy. Check out the video.

The Grand Joust of Gisellirburg

Mark of Falworth and his real-life brother, "Brother" Steven dropped an excellent medieval joust creation on us late last night. The Grand Joust is taken from the last part of their first book in their new series, The Anselm Saga. This build features a lot of what I like to see in a castle MOC, lots of small details, character, visual depth and a good use of color. I expect we will see many more MOCs from their book series in the coming months so stay tuned and check back often.

K-Drone

SANDSTORM reports continue to come in, I hope the Nambia authorities are paying attention. This drone (by Si-MOCs) was sighted being positioned by dropship with no human companions and is assumed autonomous. It's bristling with armaments and looks like a formidable drone, this can't bode well.

The Flying Piranha And Imperial Fort

No this isn't an official set, but it has the feel of one, and it's intentional. Legonardo Davidy and Cara have combined efforts for the Eurobricks Pirate Teamwork Contest and the results are stunning. The design of both the ship and the fort are brilliant, with wonderful play features and detail rivaling that of real LEGO designers. There's tons of pictures of both these models and some great making of shots, click through to explore.

Working LEGO Keyboard

This is pretty damn cool. A functioning computer keyboard build almost entirely of LEGO. The only parts that are non brick are the membrane and cable. Check out the video, it's really cool.

Defense Mech

I love the aesthetic of this mech by devid VII. It's got NCS coloration, greebly goodness and total badassness. Seems like it's got some excellent pose-ability as well, I want to stomp it around my desk.

Retro Handheld Action

Over the years there have been many attempts to get a piece of the handheld market from Nintendo. One that was actually not bad was the Neo Geo Color. It ate batteries like there was no tomorrow, but it came with Sonic The Hedgehog, which was pretty cool. This version by lego27bricks is spot-on.

Kounotori

The International Space Station is truly an island in space. There's no running down to the market when you run out of toilet paper. So the importance of the unmanned resupply vehicles that shuttle essentials back and forth from the ISS is critical. This is the Kounotori (White Stork) by Kei_Kei_Flic that supplies the Japan module, and it's pretty slick.

Epic Oscar Selfie, LEGO Style

If it goes viral, you can bet it's on Ochre Jelly's radar. And if it needs a good mocking, he's gonna be in the bricks. And if he's in the bricks, we all win. Well played Mr. Jelly, well played.

From The Depths It Came...

I keep pausing to look at this MOC by pif500, which means I should really be sharing it. It's a fine example of how to don't have to build big to build well. And how a simple photograph, well executed, elevates that build. I love the new swirly pieces as tentacles, genius!

Skeeter

One of the things I love about living on the central coast of California (and conversely, hate about visiting relatives in the mid-west) is the lack of insects. Sure we have bugs, but mosquitos are fairly rare and we don't suffer like they do elsewhere. But you know, if the were as cool as this MOC by captainsmog, I might not dislike them so much.

It's a little derpy, and not quite accurate (I'm a stickler, I know, but I have a pretty accurate one hanging in my house) but the truly amazing thing is this is LEGO, at least most of it is. Well played Omar + kamitera.

Shooting "Star Clutch"

It always feels really awkward to blog my own stuff, but I'm really proud of my involvement in the LEGO Adventure Book Volume 2 and I finally posted some pictures on Flickr yesterday. I was also feeling the need to prove that I do build from time to time, it's just all top secret stuff anymore. Many, many thanks to Pete Reid for loaning me the corridor. That's him working on the blip on the table.
