I don't know if it's my geekiness for Star Wars or my recent missing of Disneyland but this MOC caught my eye instantly. Yes, Star Tours makes me barfy, but I do love it so. This version of the Starspeeder 3000 by HJR-Holland is pretty cool, with custom color scheme and decals it just looks fast. It's to celebrate 500 supporters for his Cuusoo project, and we can expect more as we pass more landmarks. Now if we can just avoid the imperials while we try and go on vacation...
OK, bear with me here, this takes a little explanation. There's this Gundam sub-theme where you imagine cute anime girls wearing your favorite mobile suit as armor. But Kevin Ryhal has taken this to the next level by going Star Wars with it. So this is an anime version of Leia wearing the Tantive IV as armor, get it? And if that's all just too much to wrap your head around, hey look cleavage!
Check out this awesome feat of pointless engineering, the six-headed great ball machine. For the uninitiated GBC is a collaborative event at a great many LEGO conventions and exhibits. The idea is to build a machine that accepts LEGO balls (Zamos Spheres, basketballs, etc) on one side and cleverly convey them to the opposite side to deliver to the next module. Why? Because balls, that why!

Classic space has been on my mind a lot these days (you'll know why when Beyond The Brick, the LEGO documentary comes out) so this immediately caught my eye. LEGOLAND master builder and awesome guy Joel Baker confesses that he has hidden these in a few Minilands, sounds like a scavenger hunt...go!
Julius von Brunk is back with another stellar Nintendo Transformers mashup. This time it's the venerable Gameboy Advance transforming into Vantage. I have no idea if Vantage is a real Transformer, but I vividly remember by Gameboy Advance. In fact, I modified mine with a front light so it was even more awesome.
RoboCop was one of those movies that came out of left field for me. These were pre-internet days (yeah, I'm old) and I had not heard a thing about it. A buddy of mine found out about a screening in Santa Barbara so we headed down. Needless to say we were blown away. It's an awesome movie and this is an awesome MOC. Murphy is pretty much perfectly captured here by Marin Stipkovic.
I love a MOC that keeps me looking, and this sweet MOC by MeGustaKapusta is a great example of that. The first thing you notice of course is the cool ship and landing pad. But then your eyes wander and you spot the interesting color uses, the otherworldly plant life, the cool little robot/creature thing down below. You just keep looking and spotting new things. All this lovely detail, and the engines light up, splendid.
As you all know, I'm not much of a prequel fan. They all have a few moments, but overall I kind of pretend they didn't happen. This is a good example why. C-3PO was built by Anakin!?!? WTF? I know a very large percentage of films require both the suspension of disbelief as well as the acceptance of a coincidence, but come on! That being said, this MOC by Omar + kamitera is quite cool.
It actually doesn't seem all that long ago that this was a thing. Sure everyone had a TV, but they were built to last and when something did go wrong, you called a guy or took it to a place. Now TVs are practically disposable. Of course they also look WAY better, cost way less and weigh nearly nothing. This MOC by LegoJalex pretty much sums up the fate of the TV repair shop.
Here's another fun fact, I get sea sick. Or more to the point, motion sick. I've only been out on a boat a few times, and I was feeding the fish before very long every time. So I cannot fathom the shade of green I'd be aboard this totally amazing MOC by peggyjb. Of course the ship is lovely, but the waves and the composition of this shot is excellent.
I find medieval warfare fascinating. Can you imagine what it was like to wrap your body in a metal suit and storm a giant building made of rock? Just to have arrows fired at you, boiling oil dropped on you or have another guy in a metal suit come at you with a ginormous sword? I'd be dead in moments I'm sure. Builders like Disco86 help us imagine what it was like with stellar builds like this. A little snapshot of time, of a larger place and larger battle. See that guy falling off the wall? That's me.
This is total geek porn here. One of the greatest sic-fi weapons from one of the greatest sic-fi movies, the M41A pulse rifle from Aliens. This version by Legohaulic is brilliant, with amazing accuracy and building. The ammo counter even lights up when the trigger is pulled. I WANT THIS.
I was literally looking at Unikitty's tail yesterday wondering what it might be used for, but waves didn't occur to me. This MOC by Melan-E is lovely, simple, small and adorable. And I have to agree, after this brutal and extra long winter all of the North American continent is ready for a little summer.
This battle scene by Mark of Falworth is an awesome MOC. I think people fall into a bit of a trap with large builds by making them too symmetrical, and therefore somewhat uninteresting. But look at the shape of this one, by making one cliff side longer than the other, and making the edges undulate, it has interest and dynamics in just the terrain alone. Throw in a few dozen soldiers about to get busy and you have all the makings of epic.
For the uninitiated, GARC (Galactic Asteroid Rally Circuit) is a thing, and that thing has now been miniaturized. GARC evangelists Andrew Lee and Simon Liu are inviting all to build a small, sweet and swift mini GARC and join them in community builds at Brickworld and BrickCon this year. Time to get your GARC on!
