Live Build Tonight!

Hey LEGO fans, it's time for another Live Build. Tonight I'll be building the LEGO Architecture 21020 Trevi Fountain. It's totally more fun than waiting for the clothes dryer.

Processing The Future

I know what you're thinking "I'm sure by the time we're soaring in space in large ships exploring the cosmos computers will no longer use large integrated circuits". But what you don't know is that this wondrous MOC by Legoloverman is actually a nano processor, only a few microns across and built by tiny, tiny robots. 

Patton

It's classic cinema, George C. Scott as Patton. This brick-built tribute to a cinematic tribute to a great military leader is excellent. I especially like the careful attention to details like the medals on his chest and his riding crop. Well done mmbace.

Mmmmmm, Roach Coach

Raise your hands if you love the food truck! There's a taco truck in town we visit at least every other week, awesome food. And I've spent whole segments of my life living off one (not to be confused with film set catering, my loathing for movie food is infamous). So this excellent little LEGO Ideas project caught my eye. All the details are perfect, I just wish LEGO made a taco element.

Mic Check

As in, check this mic out. Elvis used one, there was one on the podium when Kennedy rallied America to space, and Martin Luther King Jr's dream was recorded with one. It's the Shure 55 and it's as classic as they come. This version by the great Bruce Lowell is an instant classic as well, it's perfect.

Fokker Triplane

When I was a kid I had a really cool Revell model kit of the Red Baron. This triplane by matthewvelar1 totally reminds me of it. Hopefully his will be allowed to sit quietly on a shelf and look nice, and isn't totally smashed by a certain little brother while trying a get a book down while I look on in horror from the upper bunk...I digress...

Battle At Hell's Gate

Well, since Tommy is gone on vacation and far away from anything resembling an internet connection, I guess that leaves me in charge and there are going to be some changes around here! Starting right now we are going to feature Castle MOCS and Castle MOCS only. I'm thinking we should re-brand the site, CastleNerd, and slap a kettle hat on nerdly.

OK, not really, but it was a good thought.

Anyway, on to Mr. Patrick Massey's latest MOC, THE BATTLE AT HELL'S GATE! Dun dun dun. All joking aside this is a pretty sweet creation that Patrick has put together. I am a huge fan of the stellar rock work and the exceptional minifigure posing. Also, and take note fellow builders, I really think the evil under-dark of the fantasy castle genre is heavily under represented and would like to see lots more of this.

The Great Devourer

Pokemon was big at my house once upon a time. I never really got into it, but both of my boys sure did. I did think Cubone was pretty cool looking, and I always hated Mr. Mime, he just looked stupid. I can't say I recall this particular Pokemon by Legohaulic, but I know there's been many more added since we were attempting to "catch em all". Then again, this isn't from Pokemon, so that explains a lot. What do you mean there's no Pokemon in Ninjago?

I'm On A Boat

Hey Brick Fans. If it feels like I'm a bit out of touch this weekend, it's because I am. I'm setting sail on the Disney Wonder and I won't have internet, cell phone, smoke signals or semaphore (well, maybe semaphore, but I won't understand it). Speaking of the Wonder, check out this awesome MOC by Shawn Steele. It's now on LEGO Ideas and needs your support. It would make a very cool, very large set.

Foolish Mortals, You Looked Into My Eyes!

Here at BrickNerd we like to look back from time to time, and have a few adventures. In honor of my visit to Disneyland today I'm posting this awesome MOC from Fat Tony 1138 of one of my favorite rides, Indiana Jones Adventure, Temple of the Forbidden Eye.

Supercar In A Bottle

Not to be outdone by any old silly ship in a bottle, MOCpages builder Nils O went and put a Countach in a bottle (the bottle seals in the awesomeness). I'm going to have to give this a try some day, I've always been fascinated by "impossible" builds. Click through for many pictures for inspiration.

Golden Gear

Lisqr is back with another fantastic MOC on a fantastic base. This is the third in the series and each is more splendid than the last. While I like all the tanks, it's the display bases that I really dig. I think more builders should dedicate more time to the proper presentation of MOCs, be it on a shelf or in photography. Why do all that work and not show it off properly?

Ship In A Bottle

This little wonder is the work of recently blogged Bangooh, who has just been flooding Flickr with some amazing work. Being a Pirates of the Caribbean fan I really like this Black Pearl, but this builder also has another ship as well as a train in a bottle. Click through for more pics.

Who you gonna call?

Hey LEGO fans and those with very little to do in the evenings, I've got my grubby little mitts on a Ghostbusters set and I'm going to build it live tonight starting roughly at 8pm PST. Join me!

Betty Lou

This steampunky flintlocky snubnosey firearm comes to us from Monsterbrick. Monster is well known for his whimsical style and this weapon is no exception. I love the use of the canoe for the butt end and the ornate flint mechanism is just lovely.

Sunflowers

One of my first experiences of build-on-command was cobbling together flowers for the window of the Clubhouse at LEGOLAND CA. Everyone's favorite Model Citizen Renate asked me to make a flower for her every time I visited, and they're still on display to this day. These excellent little sunflowers by Bruce Lowell would be right at home in that window. In fact, you better bring one with you next time Bruce.

Laputa: Castle In The Sky

We've seen depictions of Miyazaki's imaginative castle in the sky before, but this version by Bangooh is spectacular. Not only is the building top notch, but it's built on an animated base that not only slowly spins the castle, but also moves some clouds and winds a music box. So very charming.

Home Office

Running a home based business can be a challenge, from the continual distractions of everyday life to that odd blend of work/home that can be a total productivity killer. But in an office as cool as this MOC by Paula G77, I think it would be pretty easy to stay on task (who am I kidding, MST3K is on and we have chocolate malted crunch in the freezer).
