"They Have A Tank"

While the original Raiders of the Lost Ark remains my favorite, Last Crusade is a close second. The dynamics of Dr. Henry Jones junior and senior makes for fun scenes, and the action in the movie is top notch. Of course the tank battle is a highlight, and this recreation of the iconic scene by JBIronWorks is spectacular. Leopard 2SG

I have to admit to being fooled by the thumbnail for this. Having grown up building plastic models, I was instantly duped into believing this was a classic Tamiya model kit. But this is Eric Ong's excellent presentation of his Leopard 2SG tank MOC. This is first class presentation, a great deal of care went into this and the results are stunning.

Churchill AVLB

Ground troops need to get where they're going quickly, and pausing to construct a bridge is a good way to not go anywhere quickly. This is the genius of armored vehicle-launched bridges. Just drive up to that creek or ditch, back this baby up and drop a bridge right on it. This LEGO version by Tommy Styrvoky not only looks the part in stunning detail and construction, it's fully functional with remote control. Check out the video to see it in action.

"Begin Landing Your Troops"

I must admit, I have watched the new Rogue One trailer too many times already.  One thing that I have noticed in the trailer, along with many other Star Wars fans, is the new Imperial tank (for lack of a better title).  It can be seen in a few, quick shots within the two trailers for the film so far.  Along with the tank, it appears to have a new form of Stormtrooper, and I can only assume he is similar to a TIE pilot, only for this new craft.  Kevin Wollert (having now completed his Harry Potter vignette series) has designed a well-crafted replica of this new vehicle introduced in the Star Wars universe.  The is a phenomenal recreation of the new iconic vehicle, and it's going to be tough to beat!  Well done, Kevin!

Blue Bull

When I think of builder Norton74, I think of hotrods, cars and crazy detailed garages. But now I'm going to add classic space to that because check out this MOC! This WWI inspired big blue tank has been flash forwarded to the future. It features a long range gun and has a rotating turret and a crew of three. The maintenance hangar is a thing of beauty too, so much spacy goodness.

Tintin Moon Tank

Although Tintin is typically known for his terrestrial adventures he has taken a trip to the moon from time to time. The most significant adventures appear in 1953 and 1954 when fascination in space was at an all time high throughout the world. And what is cooler than trolling around on the moon? Trolling around the moon in a tank of course! This reproduction of Tintin's famous tank from builder Tyler is very true to the original from the comics. Tyler uses many excellent building techniques and details in the reproduction including Titin's dog Snowy in one of the tanks front pods.

Behemoth

A good MOC has all the elements you might expect, like color selection, form continuity, clever part use and good presentation. A great MOC tells a story, evokes emotion or conjures other senses like smell and sound. Can you practically smell the oil and soot of this beast by Captain Smog? How about the squeaking of chain, puffing of steam and grinding of gears, can you hear them? I can.

Type 17 Kai

Dear Mom,

How's dad? Boot camp is going very well. The food is pretty terrible, but I can always talk my friends out of their fruit cup so I'm getting enough to eat. Yesterday started a bit rough, with a ten mile hike, but then we got to drive TANKS! I was a mess at first, but with a little practice I got it down pretty quick. Luckily I was mastering it fast, because just as we were finishing up there was a terrible rumble. Apparently our weapon testing of the 120mm ETC woke up a slumbering monster in the depths of the mountain. We sprang into action and I drove the tank while Wilson and Hacker opened fire. With the help of the other three Type 17's we drove the monster back. Eventually he retreated back to the sea, but I suspect we'll see him again before long. Not to worry though, we're well armed.

Wraiths On Treads

Here's a thing of nightmares, or maybe a nerdgasmic mashup, up to you. Builder Chris Darmawan dared to imagine what the Nazgul would do with a little military upgrade, and I have to say it would be terrifying to see this roaring at you across the rocky plains of Mordor. It's like Batman and the Witch King got together and spent a little time in the garage. 

Oh and if it wasn't cool enough standing still, it's motorized!

Stealth Is Not A Feature

Nothing speaks of confidence than to roll on your enemy with supreme firepower painted bright yellow. This obnoxiously yellow landship (that's space_e's official title) sports three turrets and four treads in counter triangular configuration. And if that wasn't enough, it's also remote controlled with an adder-subtractor drive. It's a lumbering beast that is designed to dominate the battlefield, regardless of color.

Golden Gear

Lisqr is back with another fantastic MOC on a fantastic base. This is the third in the series and each is more splendid than the last. While I like all the tanks, it's the display bases that I really dig. I think more builders should dedicate more time to the proper presentation of MOCs, be it on a shelf or in photography. Why do all that work and not show it off properly?

Gremlin Tank

I couldn't decide if this was more awesome, or more deadly looking. Then I realized that those terms didn't have to be mutually exclusive. Then I thought maybe I'd combine the terms, but  realized that both "deadsome" and "awesly" both sound stupid. So I decided to make up a new word for it, and after much thought I hereby declare this amazing MOC by Lego Junkie "threatacular". You're welcome.
