It's All In The Reflections And Highlights
/This MOC by Moko is really cool, but not as cool as the presentation of it. It was a risky move shooting a dark green and black MOC against a very dark background, but this is how it's done. What makes it work is careful lighting. It's the reflections and specular highlights that you're mostly looking at here, and that's the secret of dark model photography. Beautifully done.
Gundam Fever
/I have some alarming news, builder Orion Pax has caught Gundam fever. Although little is known about this disease it would appear the only way to treat it is to build some amazing mechs. I think he'll get better though, if these MOCs are any indication. Check out his website for a ton more pictures of this amazing build.
Update: Alex was kind enough to provide me with an exclusive pic of some Gundam jewelry he's built as a companion piece. Feast your eyes on this serious bling.
Sunset Gundam
/Don't let the bright and cheery color scheme of this mecha by DViddy fool you, it's a formidable weapon. Bionicle parts are used to great effect here, offering excellent contouring and detail without the MOC looking at all "Bionicle".
Wolf Spider
/For Immediate Release:
Merzlakwerks Tactical Systems Inc is proud to announce the debut of our latest heavy combat platform, the HAQ-74m 'Wolf Spider'. Whether in the deserts of earth, patrolling combat bases on Moon Base Delta or off world military scenarios, the Wolf Spider is exactly what you need. With duel plasma injecting impact canons, advanced chassis and Articuvanced™ Quadrupedic Mobility Conveyance (AQMC), the Wolf Spider puts the odds in your favor, and the firepower in your hands.
Speak Softly And Carry A BIG Gun
/According to the description this automata by Izzo's LegoStyle is approximately 6 feet tall. That would make the gun somewhere between 7-8 feet long. That makes this thing essentially a walking tank.
GORYOU
/Gamma Four
/Check out this crazy cool robot from Jason Corlett! In his ongoing series (one for each letter of the Greek alphabet) this is Gamma Four. I rarely post more than two pics of a MOC, but this thing is so gloriously detailed and designed that I couldn't help myself. I especially love the legs and feet, you can practically hear this thing clomping down a futuristic corridor.
MS Girl: Tantive IV Gundam 2
/OK, bear with me here, this takes a little explanation. There's this Gundam sub-theme where you imagine cute anime girls wearing your favorite mobile suit as armor. But Kevin Ryhal has taken this to the next level by going Star Wars with it. So this is an anime version of Leia wearing the Tantive IV as armor, get it? And if that's all just too much to wrap your head around, hey look cleavage!
Trash Mech
/Tachikoma have many uses beyond the obvious military and law enforcement applications. I doubt the care of grade school children, theater usher or pool lifeguard will ever make the list. But hey, trash collector? Why not? This build and photo by Galaktek is brilliant.
Nowa AI-7 RV
/What do you get when you cross a pit bull with a tank and mix in a little robotics? No idea, but I'm guessing something like this awesome six-legged mech by Cole Blaq. How much fun would this thing be to drive around? Especially in an urban environment, "accidentally" crushing the random Prius and stuff.
Defense Mech
/I love the aesthetic of this mech by devid VII. It's got NCS coloration, greebly goodness and total badassness. Seems like it's got some excellent pose-ability as well, I want to stomp it around my desk.
Midi Frame
/Everyone seems as excited by the new balljoint elements as I am. Both the new Chima Legend Beasts and Mixels are loaded with them, and all in reasonably priced sets. MacLane celebrated these new awesome parts by building this fairly simple, but completely slick humanoid frame. It's just aching to be animated.
I cannot Tell A Lie...You Are Gonna Die
/Being a patriot means a lot of things to a lot of people. Perhaps you never forget to put the flag out on July 4th. Maybe you remember to always remove your hat during the National Anthem. And maybe you're a robotic civil war badass with a gatling gun built by Carlmerriam.
KANTAM ROBO
/Moko is back with yet another stunning MOC. This is KANTAM ROBO from the very popular Crayon Shinchan. Moko has a way of finding shapes and contouring I find mysterious and wonderful. He packs in detail without overbuilding, and minimizes clutter without underbuilding. And check out those launching fists!
LL-918 Halcyon
/Gotta love some Neo Classic Space mech action, and this fit the bill. This mini mech by -=Steebles=- strikes a perfect balance of old and new, and sports some menacing weaponry. Looks like it's got some great pose-ability as well.
