Fresh Blood

Inspired by the stunning Rivers of Hell collaboration of Mihai Marius Mihu & The Deathly Halliwellonosendai2600 has crafted a castle of nightmares. With it's gaping maw bridge and crimson base, it's an intimidating structure to say the least. But I have to admit despite it's menacing appearance, I find myself irresistibly drawn to this, perhaps it's my darker side?

Hatched

Well these little dudes are in a heap of trouble. It turns out the eggs they found in a keep not that long ago have hatched, and some rather unique dragons have emerged. Or at least that's sort of the story, I find it difficult to keep up with all the castle lore you abundantly creative miscreants weave. But I don't find it difficult to admire a cool build, and these dragons are unlike any I've ever seen, almost feathered in appearance. Awesome stuff 'Ecclesiastes

The Schirrmeisterei

The Brick Time team continues to add beautiful structures to their fictional town of Dunholmincluding their latest creation, the Schirrmeisterei. I'll admit that I had no idea what a Schirrmeisterei was, I naturally assumed that it was some sort of horse stable, but thanks to the magic of the interwebs I was able to clear up that misconception quickly. Turns out a Schirrmeisterei is a military supply office of sorts. This supply office makes a great use of the one of my favorite LEGO color combinations, dark stone grey, reddish brown, dark brown on a sand yellow base.

The Floating Island Of Todaidh Beag

This is stunning work. Behold the floating island of Todaidh Beag (no idea how to pronounce that) by Cesbrick. This is a top notch combination of mad building skills, excellent color use, fantastic tilted timber construction, whimsical subject matter, stellar photography and well done photo editing. In other words, it's practically perfect in every way. Click through for more pics!

Bartholomew's Border Brewhouse

Here's a little MOC loaded with character and texture. Welcome to Bartholomew's Border Brewhouse by Aardwolf. I still haven't tried this building style yet, and may never, but I'm irresistibly drawn to it and don't even know what to call it. I saw in the comments on this MOC someone said "tilted timbers". And if that's not what it's called I'd like to propose it as a term. Who's with me?

The Stargazer

Legonardo Davidy is back in castle territory with this latest MOC, and it's a beauty. It's loaded with all the lovely features we've come to expect from a David Hansel creation, rich textures, complex curves and so much style it looks like it's been lifted from a storybook. All that and what looks to be somewhere in the region of a 24" scope. Should be able to spot individual moon rocks with that beast.

Robin Hood and Little John

One memory came rushing to the front of my mind when I first saw this build, so bear with me a second while I take a trip down memory lane. I can't help but envision the scene from Robin Hood: Men in Tights where Robin and Little John are fighting over the bridge. They keep breaking their staffs in half to the point where they are just tiny sticks which they then use to rap each other on the knuckles. Good times. Anyway, this vignette from Paul Vermeesch is a pretty sweet one right? The entire excellent "Brick Time Stories" collaboration series was featured at Brickworld this year and I will post them as I find them.

Tree Hut

While I have to wonder about how you might get your groceries or (gasp!) LEGO up there, I think it would be fun to live in a tree house, at least for a while. Especially if it was designed by Legonardo Davidy, like this charming wizard cap roof hut. And while the roof is certainly a standout feature of this MOC, I really like the door and the hand rails at the top of the ladder, those are rancor fingers.

Mermaids!

Before anyone asks, yes, I worked on Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides and no, I didn't have anything to do with this scene. Well, we *might* have done a peg lag replacement or two, I don't recall, but the mermaid sequence was done at another visual effects facility. Now that that's out of the way, check out this awesome MOC by TheBrickAvenger from one of the best (if rather unorthodox) sequences of the movie, that lighthouse is perfect! Some dioramas make you want to stand back and admire from a distance, others make you want to jump in and PLAY. This one is in the later category.

Al Amarj Island

This stunning castle MOC by MassEditor is enough to make you want to plan a European vacation. That is of course assuming you're not already in Europe, in which case you're probably sick of looking at castles and would probably like to just hang out at a Motel 6 in Malibu. I like to think whoever decided this was the perfect place to build a castle had just a little bit of "Bond villain" in them.

Ulandus Keep

Sometimes you have to stop and really look at someone's creation to fully appreciate the design. Upon initial inspection we find only the simple gatehouse to a yet-to-be-built castle, two basic towers and a gate. But if you look closer we find some really cool new building techniques that we may have missed during out initial inspection including the two-tone patched walls and a very excellent and possibly never before seen Merlon design.
