Spacebase, Spacebase, SPACEBASE!

We featured these outstanding neo classic spaceships as builder ZCerberus was unveiling them last week, now comes the final grand presentation. Check out this massive and totally awesome landing platform base! From the subtle details and rock work to the cool lighting effects this is fitting way to display all these sweet ships.

Monarch & Wasp

Builder Zcerberus continues to delight with daily releases of fantastic Neo Classic Space ships. I like how they're all completely different from each other, yet look like a unified team or series. I especially like the Monarch, with it's dropship-like appearance looks especially fierce. Judging by the description of the first offering, the Firemoth, we can look forward to at least one more, but I couldn't help myself and had to post these two.

Firemoth

I was just thinking yesterday that it's been a while since I've seen a good old neo classic space ship. Thankfully builder ZCerberus came along to slake my nerdy lust with this lovely craft. It has an unusual shape, far more round and snub-nosed compared to most ships, and that's what I find most appealing. With the impression of large turbines in the wings it almost looks like a VTOL, making for some cool takeoffs in my imagination. This thing looks ready to protect the galaxy.

Neo Classic Speeders

Mankind has been destined for space-travel ever since we first gazed up into the stars and wondered what was out there. The problem is that not everyone likes the exploring and science side of space, some of us just want to race on other planets. That is where builder Sad Brick (aww, cheer up buddy!) has stepped in and imaged what it would be like to race on another planet with one of our best space-buddies.
As a side note, this build is proof that you don't need a lot of LEGO bricks to come up with something cool and interesting.

Ares 7

The Martian was an incredible movie. From the premise and the drama, to the humor and the production design, it's top notch filmmaking. And this Martian inspired MOC by Bricking It is top notch building. This is also top notch presentation. At first glance this looks like a still from the movie, with the martian terrain in the background and the careful lighting of the rover. Superb work!

Sci-Fi Evenings Of My Youth

Along with a absolute glut of movie cash grabs in post Star Wars 1970's, there was quite a bit of sic-fi on television too. But these two shows captured our imaginations and eyeballs for a couple hours a week. They were no Millennium Falcon, but the ships of Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers kept us happy (and so did Wilma). These versions by SPARKART make me happy too, I just wanna swoosh them.

ISS

This International Space Station MOC by Lia Chan DFW is so brilliantly built I thought it was just a photograph at first. I've had the pleasure of watching this engineering wonder built live through many, many hours of streaming NASA feeds (space doesn't happen quickly, but always fascinatingly) and I sort of wish I could have been watching this MOC being built the same way. It measures over five feet long and is amazingly detailed. It's also up to date with the addition of BEAM and Cygnus-6, awesome.

Flights Departing Daily

We all know what a Disney geek I am, we go to Disneyland all time despite the fact that it's over three hours away. And as much as I love Space Mountain, I rarely ride it. The line is always long, and when you're a frequent visitor like us, we just don't do long lines (it'll be there next time). Plus there's something about the geometry of the ride vehicle and my body, it just beats the crap out of me every time I ride. I never rode the one in Orlando though, and I didn't realize the cars were different, as illustrated here in this absolutely brilliant MOC by jtheels. So perhaps on my next visit to Florida I'll give it a go. And now I want to be at Disneyland...

Ready

I don't know who this guy is, in fact I don't even know it's a guy. I don't know where he or she is, or what they're doing. But the title of this pic is "I AM READY", and I have to agree, whoever it is they do look ready indeed, ready for anything. Unless that is of course we're talking about showering, then I don't think that helmet is going to be very compatible with shampooing. Or brunch, this uniform would not be very comfortable for dining on copious amounts of shrimp at a buffet. Or playing Wii Bowling...

An excellent MOC and photograph by SweStar.

Al's Space Diner

You really can't go wrong with a 50's style diner aesthetic, even in space. Who could resist stopping here for some lunch and a milkshake? Sure you might need to get to some distant system for a intergalactic meeting or something, but do you really want to do it on an empty stomach? Drop by Al's Space Diner by Priovit70 and grab some grub. Great, now I'm craving a hot dog.

UPDATE: Credit where credit is due. This is a heavily modified (spacified?) diner model from the fine folks at BrickBuildersPro.

Blue Bull

When I think of builder Norton74, I think of hotrods, cars and crazy detailed garages. But now I'm going to add classic space to that because check out this MOC! This WWI inspired big blue tank has been flash forwarded to the future. It features a long range gun and has a rotating turret and a crew of three. The maintenance hangar is a thing of beauty too, so much spacy goodness.

Pay Attention Class...

Of course LEGO astronauts go to space academy, they have to learn the ways of space somewhere. And of course there's lecture halls at the academy, they're perfect for group learning. So why we've never seen a space academy lecture room before now seems baffling. Thankfully builder justin_m_winn came along to fix this oversight. Three cheers for higher education!

Get Away From Her You...

Who can ever forget that first time you saw Aliens and the queen showed up at the end (spoilers?) After the first 90% of the movie that was already like riding a rollercoaster with your hair on fire holding a rabid cat this baby pops out of the drop ship and you soil your seat. Well now Sir Nadroj has build a brick version of her and she's a beauty. May I suggest a power suit and Ripley next? Has to be done Jordan, get to work.

Proteus Rover

FebRovery is almost over, but cool spacefaring rovers are still coming in, like this way cool dual driver model from builder TrapleS. There's a realistic quality to this rover, while still looking very slick. It reminds me of the rover in The Martian, which was based on proper research and consultation with NASA and JPL (with an added touch of Hollywood design of course).
