Read MoreThose mad geniuses at Brickstuff have done it again. As if LEGO 71043 Hogwarts wasn't impressive enough, now you can trick it out with another stunning lighting and sound kit from Brickstuff. And this isn’t your typical “stuff it with way too bright LEDs” kit we see so much of these days, it’s seriously high tech and incredibly well thought out. Brickstuff took over six months developing it, including the development of a whole new controller board. It’s the most advanced kit they’ve ever offered, surpassing even the stunning Millennium Falcon kit. And it’s not just a bunch of lights that turn on and off, it’s storytelling. The whole kit is designed from the ground up to bring the castle to life, not just make it visible in the dark. And once you add your own sounds to it, you will swear school is in session. The kit is so innovative Brickstuff has created it’s own website, lightmycastle.com to showcase it. The kits are available for pre-order now, but there’s a limited supply of “mega-bundles” so act fast.
As I've said in the past, we're all makers. And a very large percentage of houses around the world have had a makerspace built in for centuries, the garage. This interior by builder Pixeljunkie looks more like a professional garage though, and it's wonderful. You can practically smell the oil and welding fumes, hear the pinging of metal on metal. The lighting and mood is captured perfectly in this shot, nicely done sir, nicely done.
This trio of fantastic builds and shots comes to us courtesy of the mad skills of Travis Brickle, Simon NH and Ralf Langer. The task was to show a medieval building process, so the team each built one part and assembled them into a three panel triptych. The lighting in these shots is top notch, building a real mood.
What could possibly be better than the LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon? The LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon with lights and sound! We installed the Brickstuff premium kit in ours and it's absolutely amazing. The kit includes 109 LEDs, 2 speakers and sound modules, more than 75 genuine LEGO parts and a remote control.

It's amazing how the addition of some simple lighting can elevate a model. This beautiful clear swan from alanboar is already an eye catcher, and very well done. But building it hollow and including an LED light strip was inspired and as you can see the results take this from eye catcher to show stopper.
This cool diorama by builder ReeseEH looks like it's right out of a movie or video game, and illustrates how much lighting can elevate a MOC. This is a simple setup, and rushed really, but compare these two shots and you can see just how much you can alter the mood with the lighting. Just imagine this with careful, deliberate lighting, it makes a world of difference.
I love movies, always have, and I love going to the movies. There's something so special about the shared experience in a darkened space that you just don't get at home. Of course you also don't usually have to walk on a floor covered with "cinemuck" and have to listen to some jerk on his phone when you watch at home (if you do, you have my sympathy). So this excellent theater by RVA LUG resonates with me. And with the custom lighting, cool posters by none other than Paul Lee and clean, retro look, it's an absolutely awesome creation. Check out the video to see the lighting in action.
