Hey! Listen!

Here he is, in one of his most groundbreaking and phenomenal forms, Link from Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time. The Zelda series had been quite successful on NES, but nothing prepared us for just how awesome Ocarina was. Builder Julius von Brunk brings us this version of young Link, armed with his Deku shield and what looks to be the Kokiri sword. He looks totally ready for action, and I'm totally ready to play.

Gameboy Color

Since the original Gameboy appeared in 1989 Nintendo has pretty much ruled the handheld gaming roost. I bought two immediately, and I still have them. Through the years we've watched them morph in shape, size and features, but the fun has stayed the same. Builder -derjoe- is clearly a fan and has a fresh batch of old school Gameboy Colors to share. Although I have to admit, that lettering is just about as nifty as the devices.

Journey

Builder and BrickNerd alum Melan-E is a huge fan of the game Journey, and to celebrate she has build this gorgeous figure of the main character of the game. I've never played Journey, mainly because I don't have a Playstation. But if I did I have no doubt this would be in my collection, it's totally my kind of game. This beautiful figure has the sweeping lines and curves of the game character, or the flow-ness as Mel puts it, and looks ready to glide over the dunes.

Admit It, You Used To Shoot At That Damn Snarky Dog

For s generation, this was the screen of total frustration. With the original Nintendo Entertainment System there was an accessory called the Light Gun, and while there were a few games that took advantage of it, this game ruled supreme. Duck Hunt was simple enough, shoot the ducks, but it could be difficult. And as if it's wasn't frustrating enough, this dog would taunt you after every round. This MOC by Pate-keetongu captures that moment perfectly, when you pointlessly aim your pistol at that dog and unleash.

Tracer's Pulse Pistols

What's better than a futuristic, illuminated, awesome looking prop pistol from the game Overwatch? Two of them! Builder Nick Brick is back with a brilliant pair of Tracer's Pulse Pistols from the wildly popular video game Overwatch. They feature moving triggers, working "reload" function with pop out side disks and light-up features using BrickStuff lighting products.

Yuyuko's Spell

This is one of those MOCs that makes you go "Oooooooh" while scrolling through Flickr. MikeVD is back with another anime game inspired girl, this time it's Yuyugo Saigyouji from the game Touhou Project (I think that's right, I've never heard of it or played it of course). She's a beauty of a figure, with a clever use of watch band for detail. And the mosaic fan in the background makes this a stunning visual, very nice indeed.

The Last Of Us

I hope you have some time on your hands, because I have a little eye candy for you. Actually it's a lot of eye candy, like a full game level of eye candy, in this intensely detailed and jaw-dropping diorama by builder Tim Schwalfenberg. It's inspired by the video game The Last of Us, and like the game it's an absolute work of dystopian art. Click through for many more pictures, and make yourself comfortable, you have some gawking to do.

*Boop Boop Boop, Weeoo Weeoo Weeoo, Wop Wop Wop*

I was totally a kid of the 70's and 80's, I saw the rise of the video game and the subsequent decline of pinball. And like an entire generation of kids, none of us ever had a quarter in our pocket that wasn't itching to be converted to a few minutes of pixelated fun. Now you can recreate this bygone era with Chris McVeigh's charming little modular arcade. You can get instructions and full kits at his website chrismcveigh.com

A Breakout MOC

Yeah, low hanging fruit of a post title, sorry, I can't help myself sometimes and I haven't finished my tea yet. But gaming has been on my mind recently, with the missed opportunity for the Nintendo NES Classic, the gift of LEGO Dimensions and all the stuff my boys play. I'm an old school gamer, I remember when Breakout was a new game (old school? I mean just old). The thing that caught my eye on this nod to 8-bit from Vitreolum is the near perfect camera alignment and lack of distortion. It practically looks like artwork rather than bricks.

Game On!

Piranha Plant

That mechanical mad genius JK Brickworks is back with another cool creation, and this one's from a video game classic, Mario Bros. Anyone that's played the game (and pretty much everyone else as well) is familiar with the Piranha Plant, those tube-dwelling, perpetually hungry pains in the butt. We've seen these before in LEGO, but this one's mechanical. Check out the video to see it in action and learn how it's done.

Mettaton

This is Mettaton by Alexander Blais, he's a robot with a soul from the game Undertale. I've never heard of him, or the game of course (nerd cred -6) but I found him instantly engaging. From the little research I did I found the game pretty awesomely retro as well, right down to the sound design. This guy seems to be the real stand out character, and with his appealing design and quirky ways, I understand why.

Metal Crusher

Queen Of Hearts

The "darker" description of existing pop culture iconography gets tossed around quite a bit. And while sometimes it works, sometimes you get Zach Snyder. But if you've ever seen American McGee's Alice game, you know what darker looks like when it truly works. This interpretation of the Queen of Hearts' throne by builder LegoWyrm was inspired by that game, and I'm inspired by this MOC.

Khvostov 7G-0X

Nick Brick is back with another top-notch video game inspired weapon. This time around it's a rifle from Destiny: Rise of Iron, and it's pretty stunning. It's a bit of a departure from the more fanciful weapons of recent history and seems more rooted in reality (looks an awful lot like an AK-47 in my opinion). The attention to detail is what we'd expect from Nick, making this a jaw-dropping reproduction.

Samus

It was a while before I bought and played Metroid Prime for Gamecube, and it was my first Metroid game (OK, I bought it for my son, but then played it myself). At first I was put off by the premise of morphing into a ball to roll around, seemed like a silly concept, but I warmed up to it quick enough. But what I remember the most is being floored that Samus was a girl, I'd seen the character for years, and had never known. This version by Pate-keetongu hits all the right marks. She looks ready for action.

Ana's Biotic Rifle

Overwatch has spawned a great many MOCs, and they continue to impress and amaze me. This latest full size prop "weapon" (can you call it a weapon when it's designed to heal?) from Nick Brick is beyond awesome. The build quality and style alone is impressive enough, but this also has custom printed elements, realistic bolt action, lighting effects and folding stock. Check out the video to see this baby in action.
