Builder Chris McVeigh has taken advantage of some new parts and building techniques to update his excellent little model of the classic Nintendo Entertainment System. Yeah, low hanging fruit of a post title, sorry, I can't help myself sometimes and I haven't finished my tea yet. But gaming has been on my mind recently, with the missed opportunity for the Nintendo NES Classic, the gift of LEGO Dimensions and all the stuff my boys play. I'm an old school gamer, I remember when Breakout was a new game (old school? I mean just old). The thing that caught my eye on this nod to 8-bit from Vitreolum is the near perfect camera alignment and lack of distortion. It practically looks like artwork rather than bricks.
As a card carrying charter member of the 8-bit club (no, that's not a real thing) I have the deepest affection for this MOC by Burglarhobbit. When we popped in the cartridge for The Empire Strikes Back way back in 1980 we marveled at the graphics, they were so "lifelike". Oh those were simpler times. Fun fact, I still have the poster for this game rolled up in my garage, it's rad.
