Ready for another month of competitive building? Here’s a new batch of LEGO contests and challenges from all around the AFOL community for December 2021 to help you find some inspiration and motivation to build! There’s nothing quite like a theme or a prompt to take you out of your comfort zone and give you something new to try. Besides, contests are the perfect place to interact with other contestants and judges and get to know your fellow builders. And if you’re like me, a deadline helps make sure you actually finish!
We’ve listed them in order of deadline so you can plan your building time to the best advantage. Make sure to check the LEGO activity calendar for local challenges and events near you. Here at BrickNerd, some of our fondest memories, greatest building achievements, coolest trophies, and best friendships came from LEGO contests, so we really hope you try some of these out. We look forward to seeing what you build!
This holiday season, your small build can make a big difference. Simply grab a handful of LEGO bricks, build a star holiday decoration, share and tag it with #BuildToGive and you can help bring the joy of LEGO play to 1.5 million children in need.
Deadline: November & December
Prize: When you share a picture of your LEGO star with #BuildToGive, LEGO will donate a set via their trusted network of charity partners.

Create something inspirational for a chance to be featured in the next LEGO Ideas book!
Deadline: December 6th
Prize: First place will receive a LEGO set worth approximately $80 and have their submission featured in The LEGO Ideas Book. Two runner-ups will each receive a LEGO set worth approximately $45.

If you enjoy building MOCs in recent history themes, here’s a challenge for you!
Deadline: December 7th
Prize: Multiple places will be awarded BrickMania kits (which kit TBA).

If you’ve been needing a good excuse to invest in some lights for your latest LEGO model, look no farther!

Prize: First place will receive 21330 Home Alone . Second place will receive 10267 Gingerbread House.

Deadline: December 22nd

‘Tis the season!
Deadline: December 23rd
Prize: In both of two categories (digital and physical creations): First place, 100 Euros of LEGO sets. Second place, 50 Euros of LEGO sets.

Prize: There will be winners, but no physical prizes.

Build a scene from the Christmas month during Harry’s years at Hogwarts!
Deadline: January 4th

Build castles, medieval landscapes, and battle scenes! Find some inspiration in the eight categories of the 19th CCC.
Deadline: January 5th
Prizes: The entrant with the highest average scores across six categories will receive 21325 Blacksmith Shop. Category prizes are as follows: 31120 Creator Castle (Castle), 75947 Hagrid's Hut - Buckbeak Rescue (Movie Scene), 76177 Battle at the Ancient Village (Over Water), 10281 Bonzai Tree (Landscaping), 40478 Mini Disney Castle (Civilian), New Black Falcon fig parts x5 (Minifigures), 79001 Escape from Mirkwood (Tolkien Inspired), and TBD (Battle).

How do the holidays look in the Star Wars universe? Get inspired by either May the 4th (Star Wars™ Day), Father’s Day, Summer Holidays/Back to School, or Holiday season (Christmas, New Year etc.) to create your own Star Wars themed brick film!
Deadline: January 13th
Prize: One winner in each holiday category will receive 75309 LEGO Star Wars™ Republic Gunship™, 75288 LEGO Star Wars™ AT-AT™, and a LEGO Ideas tote bag. One of these four will also receive the grand prize, 75313 LEGO Star Wars™ AT-AT™ UCS.

Sharpen your swords and prepare to slay a dragon! With categories ranging from Monstrous Encounters (build a monster!) to Monarchic Minifigures (five minifigures), Brickscalibur has something for every castle lover.
Deadline: January 14th
Prize: The entrant with the highest total score across all six categories will receive 21325 Medieval Blacksmith. The team category winners will receive a brick-built trophy each. Each other category has two prizes, one a brick-built trophy, the other a set. The set prize for the vignette category is 40478 Mini Disney Castle. The set prize for the Monstrous Encounters category is 71753 Fire Dragon Attack. The set prize for Monarchic Minifigures is 40500 Wizarding World Minifigure Accessory Set. The set prize for Interior Architect is 76387 Hogwarts: Fluffy Encounter. The set prize for Rogues and Outlaws is 43188 Aurora’s Forest Cottage.

Here’s a chance for even the youngest LEGO builders to get in on some micro fun! This challenge is open only to builders 14 and under.

Find some sci-fi inspiration in the wide range of Space Jam categories!
Deadline: January 31st
Prize: Entrant with the highest score across three categories will receive 71741 Ninjago City Gardens. The winning team of the team category will receive four brick-built trophies. Each other category has two prizes: a brick built trophy and a LEGO set; the winner chooses their preference and the other prize goes to second place. The LEGO sets are as follows: 75305 Scout Trooper (Sci-fi Horror), 80020 White Dragon Horse Jet (Pet/Animal Companion), 75322 Hoth AT-AT (Alien Landscape), 75312 Boba Fett’s Starship (Carrier), TBD (12x12 Vignette)
