LEGO Contest Round-Up for December 2024

A new month is upon us which means more competitive building! Are you ready? Here’s the latest bunch of LEGO contests and challenges from all around the AFOL community for December 2024 to help you find some inspiration and motivation to build! There’s nothing quite like a theme or a prompt to take you out of your comfort zone and give you something new to try. Besides, contests are the perfect place to interact with other contestants and judges and get to know your fellow builders. And if you’re like me, a deadline helps make sure you actually finish!
We’ve listed them in order of deadline so you can plan your building time to the best advantage. Make sure to check the LEGO activity calendar for local challenges and events near you. Here at BrickNerd, some of our fondest memories, greatest building achievements, coolest trophies, and best friendships came from LEGO contests, so we really hope you try some of these out. We look forward to seeing what you build!
It’s time for floating islands, airships, and all ‘round epicness! The Wandering Skies contest is back! With three categories ranging from small to as large as you like, there’s something for everyone.
Deadline: December 10th
Prize: LEGO sets and/or BrickLink store credit, with first and second place in each of three categories, and custom-built trophies for the overall awards.

Build a corner for your minifigures to enjoy some festivities.

Ready to cook up some delicious gingerbread masterpieces? This holiday season, dessert is the only thing missing from the dinner table. Build a gingerbread house-inspired MOC to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth!
Deadline: December 23
Prizes: Digital badges

Time to show off your holiday spirit and spread some warmth, cheer, and kindness to your minifigures.

It's that time of the year again! Our favorite season is back, and it’s got nothing to do with vacations. Or reindeer. Or even eating too much food... It’s time for our annual heart MOC build to give campaign!
Since 2017, builders like you have helped us donate millions of LEGO® sets to children around the world, spreading the superpower of play to those in need.
Deadline: January 2nd
Prizes: When you build and share a heart, the LEGO group will make a donation through our awesome partners who give out sets in hospitals, care homes, vulnerable communities, and beyond – covering over 25 countries!

The Colossal Castle Contest is back! Join the fun with one of the longest-running annual LEGO contests out there and crack out the bricks to click some good old castles together!
Deadline: January 5th
Prize: New sets or gift cards for the winners of each category, with the 71795 Temple of the Dragon Energy Cores set as the Master Builder prize for the entrant with the highest average score across all the categories.

It is time to relive the 90s! With up to 5000 pieces at your disposal, recreate the grand scale of a famous 90s movie moment or dive deep into the intricate details of a TV show set or iconic film design.
And right after in January, there is a follow-up contest coming with a maximum of 1000 pieces, all about capturing the essence of a moment or scene from an iconic 90s movie or TV series.
Deadline: January 6th at 6:00 AM EST
Prize: Grand prize winner will get an official LEGO set made, 10 copies for free, and 1% of net sales. A runner-up will receive 21351 Nightmare Before Christmas, 21350 Jaws and 21345 Polaroid.

Do you have what it takes to be a Dragonslayer? Do you deserve a place at the round table with some of the best medieval builders out there? Join the Brickscalibur contest and indulge that hankering to build some epic castle MOCs! With six fabulous categories (and a prize for the best digital build too!) there’s more than enough building inspiration to get you going!
Deadline: January 15th
Prize: First and second places for each category, with the winners choice between a LEGO set and a custom-built prize, and a custom-built trophy (to be unveiled soon!) for the Dragon Slayer!

Ready to reimagine a LEGO set? With three categories for different sized sets, you can dream as big or small as you like.
Deadline: January 27
Prizes: Sets of your choice worth up to 180€ for the large category, 150€ medium category, and 110€ small category.
