Review: Brick Warriors German Flametrooper
/The fine folks at Brick Warriors were kind enough to send over one of their latest releases, the German Flametrooper. While I'm not a military builder, we have had military scenes in a couple animations done here over the last few years, so we do keep an assortment of military accessories on hand. And now we have a particularly badass set.
Like all the accessories from Brick Warriors the quality is quite good. The plastic is very close to LEGO with a similar weight and feel. They're not quite as smooth and shiny as most LEGO elements, but that is actually a plus since this is supposed to be military. The trooper set comes in four color combinations as seen below, they're all pretty great but my personal favorite is black, it just looks so menacing.
All the parts fit well, although I found it difficult to attach the weapon to both hands, you can't really tell from the photos, but the left hand isn't even attached, it's just near the weapon. The helmet lines up with the eyes of a regular minifig head and all the gear went on without a problem. The helmet doesn't allow for the head to turn, which makes it hard to pose without it rising up, which may be a problem for some people. I don't personally care for the little flame piece, it doesn't look like fire to me, but of course you don't have to use it and it's perfectly compatible with official LEGO flame pieces. I was concerned with the tubing at first, that it was too rigid and would't allow the figure to hold the weapon without a lot of stress, but it works great and wasn't a problem at all.
Overall I'm impressed with the set, in all it's color combinations. There's no military stuff on the animation schedule at the moment, but you can bet I'll be using this as soon as the opportunity arises, it's just so wicked looking. I give it 4 out of 5 Nerdlys
