Review: LEGO Burj Khalifa

21031 Burj Khalifa is one of the newest sets in the LEGO Architecture line. It's LEGO's second attempt at replicating the tallest building in the world (their first attempt was...unimpressive, to say the least. Unless you really, really, REALLY like 1x1 round bricks). How does this new one stack up?

Very well! The Architecture series has always had really sleek presentation, and the Burj Khalifa is no different. The instruction manual includes some fun facts about the real-world building (it's very tall).

The actual build went pretty smoothly. You start off building the base, then the internal support, the side panels, and topping it off with the spire. Easy-peasy.

The internal structure is held together with an Axel Connector Hub, which works really well.

It also comes with plenty of 1x2 bricks with studs on the side and cheese slopes. If you have no interest in the model, it's still a great parts-pack.

The color scheme is...passable. I kind of wish they used light blue pieces instead of light gray for this model, which would make it look more like the actual building. The shape and detailing is great, though.

Overall, this is a quality set, and if you're a diehard Burj-Head, it's a must buy. And if not, it has plenty of great parts for the pickin'.
