Sadness

We've all been sad, it happens to us all the time. I was sad just two days ago when BrickCon ended and I had to say goodbye to all my friends. But as you saw in Pixar's Inside Out, Sadness is an important emotion, that colors and balances our other emotions. Just ask builder nolnet, she's one of his favorite characters of 2015.

Plankton

So what do you do when you end up with dozens of 1x1 Planktons? Make a giant Plankton of course. Well, that's what builder ZetoVince did, and it turned out amazing. The spiraling little Planktons are almost hypnotic in this creation, and meta aspect of it is almost hypnotic. 

Fill 'Er Up

And by "'Er" I mean my gas tank, shopping bag and belly, which you could do back in the day at your local service station. This throwback to the good old days by Norton74 features just such a station, and it's as charming as it was back then at the station that inspired it in Tucson Arizona. It features a detailed shop, store and diner, which are all superbly detailed and absolutely inviting.

Shaman Dabez

Deep in the jungles of Mirowai there lives a shaman with legendary powers. Travelers from distant tribes will travel whole weeks in search of his healing powers, but that's not the source of his reputation. It is said that shaman Dabez actually has the power to unshrink heads, making him very popular with misfortunate safari adventurers and members of certain political parties. Yes, he's that powerful.

I made all that up, since builder ϟ Sparks ϟ didn't have a back story, you're welcome.

Scania R580 PWT

Builder Bricksonwheels is back with another big, beautiful truck. This one's a Scania R580 PWT, and while it looks a treat just standing still, you can drive this one with your cell phone thanks to an S-Brick and two Power Functions XL motors.

Geek Chic - Fabulous Furniture

LeTranger Absurde brings us this delightful set of office furniture! The scale is quite deceptive, I'm not normally one to get excited about furniture (my wife loves cushions and mirrors) but this really tickled my fancy.  I love those micro star wars vehicles on the desk ahd the inclusion of minifigs as dolls is a delight. I also really admire the details of the wood panels that fabulous lampshade. Why not swing by and take a look LeTranger's photostream it's abound with delights!

Zaintiraris Chamber

Have you ever got to any point in any game where you thought, "I should have saved", yeah, of course you have. Play any game for long enough and you'll get a better feel for when you might be in peril, or just pay attention to the giant weapons, numerous sharp objects and remains of previous hapless adventurers and perhaps get a hint? The question is, what did you do Xenomurphy?

Cairo Fight Scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark

The LEGO Group may have only produced official Indiana Jones sets for two years (2008-2009), but we continue to receive great MOCs like this one from the theme. Builder Lego Fjotten has recreated the the Cairo Fight scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark with some clean but detailed design.

Guardian Golem

If anyone ever says to you "that's a useless part" just smile and move on, you don't need that kind of attitude in your day. Most people would probably look at the new buildable figure Chewbacca head and think it's only use is just that. But builder O0ger saw a big lower jaw in this unsure character. 

'Ice to See This Starfighter

The 2002 theme of Ice Planet inspired Sylon-tw to craft this spaceship that I'm sure could skate right through your planet's atmosphere. Though this little ship is compact, it looks like it would be pretty fast, zooming through the sky, patrolling the arctic area (or wherever it's been assigned). The intakes for the engine positioned on each side add a lot to the model, as well as the use of the fairly new cockpit/slope element in translucent orange. If you're in a cold environment, keep an eye out for this guy!

Cuckoo

Time, there's never enough of it. Seems like I'm continually racing the clock, every day. It could also be said I'm a little nuts, or cuckoo. So this MOC by BrickBuilder7622 speaks to me, or at least reminds me that I really need to get this blog post done and get in the shower because it's almost time to head back to BrickCon!

Expecto-Abnorman!

Fresh from the campus of Hogsnorts comes a fresh batch of Rejectz from builder Melan-E. Features is Dumbledaft (with Faw-kAWKS), Harry Pooper, Herwhynie and Ron Weeeweee. They're going to learn spells, get oppressed by their potions professor, have some adventures and blossom into adulthood. All while trying to not get killed by he who must not be named.

Red Baron

I had the Monogram plastic model kit and the Hotwheels version of this iconic hot rod when I was a kid, the legendary Red Baron. Every kid knew this car, and we all wanted one. And if you would have told me that it was possible to build it microscale with some 11 parts I would have been pretty skeptical, but check out this version by Unijob Lindo, it's perfect!

New Extinction Theory

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dr. Henry Bonedigger of the New Mexico Paleontology Society has proposed a controversial extinction theory of the late jurassic, early cretaceous period. While the leading theory is catastrophic climate change brought on by a cosmic event, a meteor or comet impact most likely, lead to the mass extinction of all the larger dinosaurs. Dr. Bonedigger theorizes the even was in fact brought on by this individual, Ty Rano, and his exceptionally large walking gun. Dr. Skip Tick of the Montana group rebukes "this is insane, to propose that a single individual could do so much damage. There were no gas stations to power that thing". Many scientists have come forward to challenge Dr. Bonedigger's theory but he remains adamant. "While I agree it was a monumental effort, I'm certain Ty and his machine did this." Dr. Bonedigger's theory will be published in the next issue of Paleoworld. He is currently on a north American speaking tour.

N-1 Starfighter, Coming in for a Landing

Inthert is possibly my favorite Star Wars vehicle builder out there. He truly takes the time and looks at all possible LEGO elements to make something as accurate as LEGO allows. This new version of the common Naboo fighter seen in the Phantom Menace is excellently crafted, every curve and detail (such as the front cannons). The astromech droid head is incorporated nicely, as is those much needed extra details in the cockpit area. Even the bottom, where details are usually lacking, looks good on its own, which is no easy task! I'm sure most builders are afraid to show the underside of their starfighters, but not here. 

Millennial Falcon

What's this? Is it a Corellian freighter from a galaxy far, far away? No, it's avocado toast and a pumpkin spice latte taking a selfie courtesy of the wonderfully bent sense of humor of Melan-E and Ochre Jelly. Speaking of Corellian freighters, did you know our pals at Brothers Brick are giving away one? All you have to do is build your own, so get to it.

Leica III

As an old school photographer, starting back when we used (gasp!) film, I've always appreciated the classic styling of the Leica. I've never owned one, or even held one for that matter, but admired from a distance. This oversized model by Milan CMadge captures it's essence perfectly, so well in fact that from a thumbnail you can barely tell it's brick-built. And if you're having trouble determining the scale of this thing, just look at the neck strap attachments on the side, it's a monster. Or you can just check out this image.

Syndrome's Revenge

Fans of Pixar's The Incredibles should recognize this scene, when the wannabe super villain with a complex Syndrome brings a little terror to the city. This is of course right before his plan goes completely awry. I love the forced perspective, almost hollywood backlot feel to this. It's very cinematic.

Fabulously Dapper

How is it possible for a bionicle based character build to make me feel like I've never dressed properly in my life? Meet Nuju Metru, Esquire, an exceptionally well dressed character by builder dviddy. He is absolutely "put together" from his shoes to his monocle, and from that confident pose, he knows it.

Paris Steampunk

Check out this absolutely epic steampunk build from CASTOR-TROY. There is so much detail and rich story telling it's kinda hard to wrap my head around. No detail pictures yet, but there are a lot of work in progress photos after the jump, so you can get a good glimpse. And the more mind boggling aspect is this is a smaller part of a collaboration, I can't wait to see the whole thing revealed.
