I get asked all the time "Where did you get that shirt?" and the response quite often is "Tee Fury" (in fact, I'm wearing one as I type this, and I got a new one in the mail today). Well my friends at Tee Fury wanted to let me and all of you know that tomorrow you can grab this awesome new design. Stay tuned for the link and score a sweet shirt!
After my disappointment with the Back To The Future Delorean I have to admit I was a little leery when this set was announced. Especially considering Brent Waller's fantastic original design. But I'm very happy to see that it has exceeded my expectations, and the set is only going to set me back $49.99, sweet!
When the live action scene was shot last year in Los Angeles the producers of The LEGO Movie put out a "MOC casting call" to local groups. Many talented AFOLs responded and now their work is on the big screen. I don't know which is more mind-boggling, that I know these artists and have actually held some of these MOCs, or that I didn't spot a single one when I watched the movie last week.
I vividly remember the time when Nintendo was king. The NES was everywhere, and everyone played it. Now you can relive those golden days and do a little fun building thanks to Chris McVeigh. His latest set, which has 220 pieces, insertable game cartridges and is pretty awesome, is available for pre-order. Click through to get yours.
If you're like me your nerdiness extends beyond just the realm of bricks. If you're also into designer toys, art, vinyl and just toys in general, I'd like to introduce you to Toy Break (if you don't know about it already). Toy Break is a weekly web series hosted by Ayleen and George Gaspar. Tomorrow night they are broadcasting their yearly 24 hour live show, and I'm going to be there.
Join me at 5pm PST on Friday with Ayleen, George and a ton of artists and toy enthusiasts as we raise funds for Toy Break and just have a lot of fun.
This morning the BrickNerd YouTube channel passed the 20,000 views mark. I know that's not a lot, there's other channels out there that get that on a single video in an hour. But for our crappy little show it's a milestone worth wooting about. Thanks for watching everyone!
Mousedroids are back in stock in the BrickNerd Do-It-Yourself Fan Art store. There's only a few so act fast.
Holy Shmoly! This is pretty amazing. The Super Awesome Micro Project is the brainchild of Steve Sammartino and and Raul Oaida. Steve is a marketing guru and Raul is, well, a genius. This crowd-sourced project has over a half million bricks, four orbital engines, 256 pistons and a top speed of about 15MPH. But enough blabber, watch the video!
Thanks for the head's up Brad
Chris McVeigh has updated the instructions for his Star Wars inspired ornaments. Most are PaB compatible and all are adorable. Let's face it, your tree is naked without these. You don't want a naked tree do you? Aunt Doris is coming over and the neighbors can see it through the window. Go there, get these.
I'm happy to announce the BrickNerd Store is now open, sorta. It's in beta and rough, but it's open. Check the link in the menu above.
More stuff will be continually added in the coming months. Feedback is greatly appreciated.
I remember distinctly being 9 years old and watching this scene, my heart soaring. Then there was that moment when I thought, "hey, Chewie didn't get a medal, what the heck?"
This is from an upcoming book called LEGO Galaxy: Build Your Own Universe. Coming out in December.
Members of the STUDS booth at DesignerCon took some time this afternoon to speed build the Tower of Orthanc, an event sponsored by FBTB. They made quick work of this set with a time of 36 minutes and 56 seconds. You can spot OneLUG's amazing Orthanc tower in the background of some shots.
