What can I say, I'm a sucker for a good Zelda MOC, and this is a good Zelda MOC, and now you can have one too. Baron Von Bronk has made instructions for this awesome mech interpretation of Link from The Legend of Zelda. Head over to his blog to get your grubby little mits on his instructions and LDD files.
CustomBRICKS is back again (it's only been a day!) with another remarkable brick-built caricature. There is just something so appealing about a minimalistic approach. The plan is mount this (and others) in shallow shadow boxes, and I think it's brilliant. I wouldn't mind one of these hanging on my wall.
I love Coke, and there's no better way to enjoy it than in a bottle. Especially if you can get your hands on one bottled in Mexico where they still use cane sugar (mmmmmm). And from the looks of it theworldinbricks feels the same way with this two foot tall tribute to everyone's favorite soft drink.
It is widely known I'm a Disney nerd as well as a brick nerd. So this very interesting MOC by customBRICKS just makes me smile. Each element is brick built, but all the pieces are free floating. It's an interesting style.
Here's a seriously militaristic looking bipedal mech. It almost has a stealth feel to it with all the facets, and a very functional but menacing aesthetic. I can just imagine what this thing would sound like and move like, it would be sweet.
It's BrickCon time! Tables are being set up, MOCs are getting unloaded and AFOLs are gathering. I'm going to be producing at least most of the next episode of BrickNerd right here, should be interesting.
First off, let me say that I'm absolutely blown away by the response to this contest. I never dreamed there would be so many entries, and I certainly didn't expect the quality to be so totally awesome. I am humbled and honored to have inspired so much quality building, you're all amazing.
But there can be only three winners (at least by my totally arbitrarily set rules) so here they are...
1st Place - Lego Junkie
Nerdly might be a strong personality, but he's also plastic. So careful where you point that magnifying glass.
2nd Place - Ochre Jelly
There have been many rumors of the origins of Nerdly, this is just one. I'm not confirming or denying this, but I will caution against wounding him, just in case he has acid blood.
3rd Place - customBRICKS
If at first you think you see Nerdly, don't be surprised if he transforms. He is in disguise.
Thank you all for entering, you made the judging VERY difficult with so many amazing MOCs. Speaking of judging, I'd like to thank everyone who helped judge the contest, I know how hard it was. Winners, your prizes will be in the mail soon, just as soon as I'm back from BrickCon.
"Cute and cuddly my foot! Come here you, I'm gonna throw ya a beating"! I can't help but think that even with our tendency to anthropomorphize animals, they still have a range of personalities we never consider. Think about it, somewhere on this planet there just has to be a bunny who is just nothing but a jerk.
This is phenomenal, a fully functional Raspberry Pi computer built into a LEGO version of BMO, the living game console from Adventure Time. And when I say fully functional, I mean it. It's a Linux computer, capable of gaming, word processing, web browsing, whatever. Check out the video!
Spotted some bargains at Amazon this morning, thought I'd pass them along. If you're interested please consider using these links and supporting BrickNerd
This is gorgeous. There is so much rich detail and texture on this MOC that it almost looks like a illustration. The rock and stone work, the distressed tudor buildings, the subtle angles and slopes, it's all just fantastic. Leonardo Davidy, you are a master.
Tazmaniac is back with another feast for the eyes, a goblin house. There is so much rich detail in this MOC you can look at it for ages, and still keep discovering new stuff. The flippers on the kilt and the roof are especially cool, and who can resist a derp-eyed goblin?
OK kids, it's time for a visual effects/LEGO mashup. This MOC employs a technique called forced perspective, where items of diminishing scale are placed to give a greater sense of distance. The use of color in the background is excellent as well, implying what's called aerial perspective where things become less contrasty with distance because of particulate matter in the air. Oh, and hey...turtles.
Midnight tonight (PST) is the end of the BrickNerd Pimp My Nerdly contest. There's still time to get your entry complete. You've got some stiff competition though, there's been a great many amazing entries so far. Get pimpin'!
Round two of the MocOlympics in underway, and the competition is heating up. These are all builders of great skill, as evidenced by this excellent MOC by jamesuniverse. For more amazing MOCs head over to the MocOlympics 2013 page.
This is quite possibly the greatest use of LEGO bands I've ever seen. Not only do they add shape and contour, but the color contrast and design is brilliant. And that's just one aspect of this overall stunning MOC. Excellent work Brickthing.
Here at BrickNerd we like to look back from time to time, and also to yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy. I'm going to Disneyland today, and this is one of my favorite rides, Big Thunder Mountain. This interpretation by Fat Tony 1138 is wonderful. I won't be riding any rides today though, it's time for MouseAdventure!
If you happen to be going to Disneyland today too and spot me, I'll give you a Nerdly promo brick and sticker!
I have a Taco Bell promotional item from Star Wars Episode 1 (yeah, I kept it, whatevs) with this same principle. I remember thinking it would be possible to build in LEGO, but never attempted it. I might just have to put one of these together some day, they're endlessly fascinating.
LoctiteGirl is back with another stunning MOC, a LEGO digital mixer. From a thumbnail you would swear it's just a picture of a mixer. The detail and authenticity is amazing, click through for many more pictures.
