Nerdy About The Bricks
This excellent bit of machinery comes from Gilcélio, who is presently battling it out with Lego Junkie in the latest Iron Builder. I've never used this particular device, but I'd swear from a thumbnail it was a actual tool and not LEGO.
I am irresistibly drawn to this MOC by Gilcélio. John Boorman's Excalibur is one of my favorite movies, I was married at the Excalibur and I really dig a good MOC. Don't you want to just reach in there and try and pull it?
If you haven't already noticed, there's another Iron Builder raging on Flickr. This bout pits Lego Junkie against Gilcélio and the part is the 1x4 double curved slope. Both builders have already thrown down the gauntlet and this is sure to be a contest for the ages.
Warner Brothers cartoons were a staple of my kid diet (those and Chick-O-Sticks) so it pleases me to no end to see these classic characters built in brick. This is Pepa Quin's SIXTEENTH entry into Iron Builder (how do these guys do it?)
A proper right sailing vessel she be. The dread pirate Pepa Quin has set to sea aboard the H.M.S. Ironbuilder, and she's a beauty. Run up your white flags you lily livered scalawags!
Soul Caliber was probably my favorite game on the Dreamcast (oh, how we miss you Dreamcast). Many many happy hours were spent pummeling opponents in that game. One of the stand out characters was Ivy, not only for her amazing segmented whip sword, but of course for her costume and her figure (yes, totally silly, and clearly designed by a man). But she could certainly deliver some punishment. This Iron Builder inspired rendition by Pepa Quin is instantly recognizable.
Tested should be familiar to all you fellow nerds out there. It's basically the online home of the Mythbusters and friends. Well, they have a little segment that's fairly new called the LEGO Mystery Build, where they put together a small custom kit. Carlmerriam's latest MOC is their logo, and it's spiffy.
It's one thing to instantly recognize an object, it's another to realize it's much, much bigger or smaller than you first expected. I think builder Carlmerriam is just messing with us, playing with scale as well as expertly building. Not only is this toothbrush crazy realistic, it's colossal. It's a total mind-bender.
When I was a kid we lived for Saturday morning. Somehow the affliction that made getting up early so difficult just the day before was lifted and we were up at the crack of dawn and planted in front of the TV set with a bowl of Cheerios. It was time for some Sid & Marty Croft, Tom & Jerry and of course some classic Warner Brothers cartoons. Pepa Quin masterfully captures one of the greatest moments in Daffy/Bugs confrontational history.
Another Iron Builder is on! This round is between Carlmerriam and Pepa Quin, and it's going to be good. There's been a few small MOCs entered so far, but now it's getting interesting. Carlmerriam brings us Hayao Miyazaki's beloved Totoro while Pepa Quin gives us a lovely evening out with a fine wine. Bring on the builds!
Things are coming to the end in the current battle for MOC supremacy between Brickthing and Onosendei2600. Both builders dropped the mic last night with some amazing final builds. Thanks to both of you for some awesome stuff to gawk at this month.
For the uninitiated, BURN•E is a Pixar short directed by AFOL Angus MacLane that takes place in the world of WALL•E. This version by Brickthing is pure magic, and the fact that it's built in an afternoon is amazing (and discouraging for slow builders like me). Throw in that it's all inspired by the seed part of Iron Builder and you can see why Brickthing is a contestant.
This little fire engine from Brickthing is loaded with oodles of clever building. Everywhere you look there's something really interesting going on. I especially like the front fender attachments and the angled body sides, very cool.
It's been a long time since I've messed with expansion slots. I switched to exclusive laptop use several years ago. But if the hardware was this irresistible back then I may never have left. Awesome work Brickthing .
This Iron Builder is starting to heat up. This entry by Brickthing is absolutely amazing. Not only from a building standpoint, but this is some top notch MOC photography. Well played sir, well played.
There's another round of Iron Builder started, Brickthing VS Onosendai2600 , and there will be blood. Here's just a sample of what we'll be seeing in the next month or so, it's gonna be great.
Iron Builder separates the builders from the BUILDERS, as they craft marvelous MOCs at a frightening pace. TBB blogger and Iron Builder chairman Nannan has built this fantasy arena where great battles take place. And you can own it! Not only that but it can be signed by both chairmen and eight iron builders! It will be auctioned off at Creations for Charity very soon.
If you're a fan of reptiles and LEGO, have I got a MOC for you. Yes, it's yet another build from Iron Builder, but it's awe inspiring. Siercon and Coral have constructed a terrarium with a working waterfall and numerous inhabitants. And no, there's no glass in there, that frog is suspended by a trans rod. Oh, and the background, it's from a Chima poster, wow. Check out the video for more details.
With the latest from Mark of Falworth and Brother Steven the boys are back to their roots, castles. And it's a fine example of the genre they have always excelled at. The rock and stonework is great, and the tudor toppers are totally terrific. This is their thirtieth entry ( ! ) into Iron Builder.
I wasn't going to post this. Not because it's not brilliant or yet another amazing build by Siercon and Coral. But because it's brilliant and yet another amazing build by Siercon and Coral. I've honestly lost count of how many MOCs I've featured by these two in the last month. But then I saw the video, and it's too damn cool not to share.
