Titanfall has inspired more full-sized weapon props than any other game in recent memory, and I can see why. The design in the game is top notch, movie-level stuff, and what could be more inspiring? This pistol is by Cyan Madness, and like all the rest it's pretty awesome.
I like the small town life. I've lived in Los Angeles and London, and I've spent time in NYC, Philadelphia, Tokyo and many more metropolises. The allure of the big city wears off really quickly with me, and it's not long before I can't wait to get back to a quiet little town. Then there's the threat of annihilation from an alien attack, as visualized by Tim Schwalf here. I seriously doubt they're going to target my house.
Our friends at Tee Fury have a couple new LEGO inspired tees for you all to wear. Now I don't want to judge, but take a moment and look down... now look at these designs and ask yourself "self, what would I rather be wearing?"
You're welcome.
UPDATE: They're gone!
This magnificent snow dragon comes to us from Ecclesiastes. The whole image, from the mysterious white cloaked figures, to the perched dragon, implies a larger story. I find that fascinating, how a single image can evoke a larger world, a background, events to come as well as history.
Like a scene out of The LEGO Movie Knights, Princesses, Cops, Robbers, Pirates, Superheroes, Friends, Ninjas, Jedi and more will converge upon one location to celebrate the one thing they all have in common - a love for LEGO. Hundreds of AFOLs and TFOLs have spent countless hours putting together their LEGO creations to share with the thousands of visitors who will marvel over their mastery.
Next week Wednesday through Sunday is the BrickWorld: Chicago convention and BrickNerd will be there blogging live about the best MOCs. Come find me (Philip) at the Knight’s Forest Castle MOC display to pick up some BrickNerd swag while it lasts!
I hope to see you there!
If you've built or even seen Metalbeard's Sea Cow, you know what a fantastic abundance of steamy goodness it is. Well, here is some proof, Dwalin Forkbeard's Steam Locomotive. I see a lot of Sea Cow parts in here, used to great effect. I especially like the use of the giant turbine on the side, quite iconic. And the cab is quite lovely.
I've had a few opportunities to ride a Segway, by far the coolest was tooling around EPCOT before public hours (except maybe the part where I flung myself off of it). This version by inquisitor88 is pretty perfect, from a thumbnail you'd swear you were just looking at a Segway.
Join me and James Morr (AKA Spastik Chuwawa) as we build the entire series 2 of Mixels. Live from BrickNerd Studios.
The Iron Builder between 6kyubi6 and Onosendai2600 continues and if you haven't been watching, you're missing out. I mean, check out the trash talk and supremely excellent MOCs in this thread, Epic.
I got an early father's day gift from my wife, the entire second wave of Mixels! I thought I might build some or all tonight live.
Google+ Hangout will start at 6pm PST, building will start soon after. Join me!
When construction began in Rome in 1732, Trevi fountain's architects and builders could not have remotely fathomed that nearly three hundred years later we would be celebrating it's grandeur with tiny plastic bricks. But celebrating we are, and this new LEGO Architecture set is a fitting tribute.
Read MoreLike all the photography from LEGO Space: Building The Future, this shot by the team behind the book just leaves you yearning to step in and share in the adventure. It's like a scene in a movie. Can't you just hear the rumble of the ship? The footsteps echoing off the walls? The whine of an unseen machine? And of course the contemplative tones of the orchestral score.
It takes a lot of effort and thought to develop a style. A method of design, construction, aesthetic and photography that makes your MOCs instantly attributable to you, and it can take years to develop. Builder mihaimariusmihu has made that leap, I'm now sure if it. As soon as I saw this MOC, I knew who's it was, and that's the true test of style.
Following up last week's brilliant Batman vignette, MacLane is back with what I hope will be a long series of super heroes' lighter moments. From enjoying a scotch to watching some TV, it's nice to see these guys getting a little break.
Retinence is back with another beautiful and masterful Pokemon MOC. This time it's Leafeon, who certainly looks pretty, but is kinda useless in a fight. I mean c'mon, chlorophyl? What good is that? And after spending all that time raising and evolving Eevee! I'm going back to the gym, I see you guys later.
According to the description this automata by Izzo's LegoStyle is approximately 6 feet tall. That would make the gun somewhere between 7-8 feet long. That makes this thing essentially a walking tank.
This scary beautiful creature was built by legoalbert, specifically to keep me awake at night (ok, not really). It sort of reminds me of the land striders in The Dark Crystal, combined with the Nasgul and that horrifying DARPA robo-dog thing. One thing is for sure, it's stunning.
Here at BrickNerd we like to look back from time to time, sometimes a long, long time ago. One of the most thrilling scenes in The Empire Strikes Back has never been cuter thanks to builder marshal banana.
I spent a great deal of my adolescence building balsa and tissue models of WWII warplanes. You know, the ones you spend endless days irretrievably gluing your fingers to the cardboard surface and pins you're trying to use. Not to mention the full day you spent high as a kite from the dope covering. Anyway, I had a few favorites as a kid, and this plane was one of them, the Grumman F4F Wildcat. This version by Mad physicist is faithful right down the the folding wings for storage on the aircraft carrier, brilliant.
Holy moly this thing is fantastic! I've been watching this super-sized MOC from Jarac take shape for ages on Flickr, now it's here and it's jaw-dropping gorgeous.
It's so incredibly and painstakingly detailed you could practically put this thing on a pylon and point a movie camera at it.
many thanks to elbarto for the head's up
