If you're going to be in the Raleigh North Carolina area next month head over to Brick Universe. Brick Universe is a four day private and public event at the Raleigh Convention Center. Builders can enjoy four days of events and activities on March 26-29 and the public is welcome on the 28th & 29th to check out all the amazing creations.
Our pals at The Brothers Brick are running a really cool contest right now, with some awesome prizes. They challenge you to build a chibi micro vehicle from your favorite movie, TV or LEGO theme. Some of the nerdiest and coolest LEGO artists are banding together to bring a unique art display to Designer Con 2014, Comic Bricks! Well, here's some great news, there's a Kickstarter Project from director Phillip Heinrich and producers Doug Vandegrift, Nathan Wells and Zach Macias called Bricks In Motion. With our help these filmmakers can create a full length documentary about the fascinating world of LEGO animation. It's only be a few days and they're already over half way there. Last night I was the guest on the YouTube channel Beyond The Brick. I had a great time hanging out with Joshua Hanlon and Matthew Kay and pretending not to be sick, pretty sure my ruse was completely undetectable. Just for fun I did their show from the set of my show (yes, I have an odd sense of fun). Thanks for having me on guys.
The month of July is drawing to a close, and the 2014 BrickNerd Pledge Drive with it. But I'm still giving stuff away (check out Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!) including this totally jaw-dropping assortment from the fine humans at customBRICKS. Of course donations are always happily accepted, and I'm giving swag away all the time, so I guess it never really stops.
Tonight at SDCC is A Look at Beyond The Brick: A LEGO Brickumentary, a panel I'm honored to be sitting on. If you're attending the conference, and not stuck in another endless and pointless line, come see me be a dork in front of hundreds of people. First of all, let me send a huge shout out to all that have donated so far. Your generosity has blown me away, thank you so much. I still have quite a few really cool items to give away, including the Exo Suit (need to finish episode 207 first) and screen-used MOCs from Beyond The Brick: A LEGO Brickumentary. I'm also excited to announce that Vince Paver (Hammerstein NWC) is generously donating two sets of his awesome custom minifigures. We're giving stuff away until the end of July, donate today!
San Diego Comic Con is upon is, BrickCon is right around the corner, contests are planned and episodes of BrickNerd are backing up. The coffers are quite dry but we have all this cool stuff laying around the studio. So what can we do to rectify this? Pledge drive!
Let's be quite clear, this isn't a raffle or a purchase, this is you supporting BrickNerd, and us surprising several of you with tokens of our appreciation like we've done in the past. It will be fairly random, but I can say it's quite likely the greater the support, the better the odds and the perk.
Among the things in our box of mutual love is badge bricks, stickers, books, poly bags and various sized sets including The LEGO House and some Exo Suit thingy you've probably never heard of. There's also several screen-used MOCs from the animation done for Beyond The Brick: A LEGO Brickumentary. Yes, you can own a piece of cinema history.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. There is of course no end date to when we'll happily accept donations, but we'll be surprising supporters immediately and until the end of July.
