Every day should start with a good breakfast, in this case for me it's starting with a phenomenal breakfast...MOC! This is one of those rare occasions (which I LOVE by the way) where I find myself looking at a pic and going "oh wait, that's LEGO too, holy crap...that's all LEGO". The level of detail, clever construction and perfect photography of this MOC by LegoJalex is simply impeccable.
David Collins has gone all out with this massive project. He started with minifig scale mechs, then a hangar big enough for three of them. The next step was to build a ship big enough for the hangar. So he ended up with this six foot monster SHIP! "I've seen a lot of ships built over the years with hanger bays in them but it looked to me like frequently the hangar bay was an after thought and what goes in the hanger even more so." Even without the hangar, it's an impressively detailed creation, plastered with cannons and yummy greebles that run all the way up and over the length of the ship. He presented it at BrickSlopes 2015 where he took Best of Show, Best of Space, and Best original Spaceship. Congrats, David!

It seems no matter how many Iron Builder challenges I see, I'm always still amazed at the speed, creativity and quality of the builds, and this one is no different. These guys are cranking out MOC after MOC, and each one is better than the last. Like this stunning peacock from KOS, amazing.
I don't know why, but one of my first vivid memories is my dad loading me and my brother into the back of the family car at some ungodly hour of the morning to set out cross county. Once we were safely loaded in, he handed us two giant handfuls of those prizes you get from machines like this one from Gilcélio. They kept us occupied until at least the city limit as we headed off to Topeka...in a beetle.
My good buddies at Beyond The Brick have a Kickstarter going to produce an exclusive DVD of Brickworld Chicago 2015. Not only can you help these guys produce a pretty sweet DVD, there's some really cool awards and stretch goals. Check out the video and help these guys out!
David Steeves has come up with this intimidating pirate escort fighter/interceptor. Gotta love the flag, just so there's absolutely no question about who you're dealing with. A classic pirate ship's mast as a mega blaster is a clever detail, too. Seeing that there's only the one gun, I assume the ship can be configured depending on which side the pilot's eye patch is on...
And you thought Volvo only made boring station wagons for suburban soccer moms. Oh contraire! They make some pretty cool excavation equipment, too, like this 1:11 scale beast by davy linden. Gotta love the detail he put into this build, like all the little hydraulic hoses, and the tasty chrome accents. Just one suggestion, davy, take it outside and dig some real dirt!!

Tomorrow is special. Not only is it a vacation day as we celebrate Memorial Day with our families (at least here in the US) but it's also my wife's birthday! We thought we'd have some fun and build series 5 Mixels tomorrow. We'll start building at 10am PST.

There are multiple levels of cool going on here. First, it's Stitch, one of my favorite Disney characters. Next, it's Iron Builder, his nose is the seed part. Lastly is the form factor, directly inspired by MOCs build last Nerdvember. I do think he'd look better with some Nerdly glasses though :-)
I invite you dear readers to find someone in your immediate area and inquire as to the level of awesome of the shirt you are presently wearing. Then invite them to judge said shirt in comparison to this classic space Dragonball mashup shirt currently on Tee Fury. The results and your next course of action should be clear.
MOCs are art in my opinion, and sometimes art is never done. This is actually the 4th iteration of this phenomenal mech by Jarek. The build is awesome, with a fantastic display base to finish it off. But equally fascinating to me is the evolution of this beast.
This month's LUGnuts challenge is Anger Management, and is there anything more angry than the Angry Birds? Proudlove brings us this fine example of what happens when you combine poultry with power, and add a pinch of unbridled fury.
Rayman was one of my favorite games on my good old glacier Gameboy Advance (which, by the way, I hacked with a front light...+10 nerd cred). It was just a funky, charming and goofy side scroller with great music and sound effects. I can use those same adjectives to describe this awesome MOC by Swan Dutchman.
I haven't seen the new Mad Max (yes, bad nerd, I have no excuse). So I don't really know the story on this sweet dystopian hotrod by _Tiler. I do know that it's pretty badass, in both construction and photography. What better way to cruise the barren wastelands than in a sweet ride like this?
Let's face it, face huggers are scary. In the original Alien it was disturbing and horrific, but in Aliens when they got upwardly mobile it was downright terrifying. But I have to say, this hugger by Grantmasters is almost cute, almost. It's very clever that's for sure, and the Gigeresque alien hand for the stand is brilliant.
Does anyone use perfume atomizers anymore? It seems like when I was a kid they were on display all over the place, including on top of my parent's dresser, but not actually filled with anything. And they seemed to make regular appearances on TV. But now I realize I can't remember the last time I saw one in the wild. Well, at least until KOS surprised me with this excellent offering of brick-built ones.
Stop motion is not for the faint of heart, and certainly not for the impatient. I've spent a great deal of time in the last couple years working in this medium and it gives me an even greater appreciation for this brilliant short by Rogier Wieland. It's charming and funny, and worth a watch. And take some time to watch the behind the scenes after, see what goes into making such an ambitious project.
Here's a fun fact: I've worked on two of the Fast & Furious films, Tokyo Drift and Fast 7. Here's a funner fact: I've never seen a single one of them. But it's nothing against them, I haven't seen a bunch of the movies I've worked on, and I'm just not into the tuner scene. I am however into LEGO, and this recreation of the Mitsubishi Eclipse by Mad Physicist is pretty dang awesome.
So your tyrannical government has been overthrown and weapons of war litter the landscape, what's a desert nomad to do? Well if you're resourceful you make good use of all that scrap and existing structure and make yourself right at home! Builder markus19840420 has imagined what this would be like and built this stunning diorama. In other news I'm so freakin' excited for EP7 I can barely contain myself.
